Donna Brazile admitted in 2017 that the DNC secretly chose Hillary Clinton as its nominee before a single primary vote was cast.
Nothing changed has since then.
This week, the same committee met behind closed doors – and what they decided will determine whether their most dangerous candidate ever gets a shot.
The DNC Has a 2028 Primary Rigged Before a Vote Is Cast
The Democrat Party's Rules and Bylaws Committee met in Washington this week to decide the order of 2028 presidential primaries. Twelve states are competing for the coveted early slots – the states that shape the field, drain campaign cash, and establish momentum before the rest of the country weighs in.
South Carolina and Nevada are the two frontrunners. That sounds like a scheduling dispute. It's a fight over whether Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gets a fighting chance at the nomination – or gets buried before she starts.
Sabato's Crystal Ball laid it out: if party leaders want "insurance against a left-wing hopeful like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, they may prioritize South Carolina.” Senator Bernie Sanders struggled in South Carolina with its heavily black primary electorate.
The DNC knows exactly what it's doing.
How the DNC Stopped Bernie Sanders and Built the Same Machine for AOC
Democrats have been killing insurgent candidates with calendar manipulation since before most of AOC's supporters were born.
In 2016, the DNC handed Hillary Clinton control of the party's finances more than a year before the first primary. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Clinton loyalist installed as DNC chair, ran the committee as a Clinton operation.
Brazile later admitted the party secretly chose its nominee before voters had a say. Elizabeth Warren called it "rigged." Tulsi Gabbard resigned from the DNC over it.
In 2020, when Sanders took an early commanding lead, the establishment panicked. Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar dropped out in coordinated fashion and endorsed Joe Biden the day after South Carolina. Nothing about it was organic.
Now in 2026, the weapon isn't superdelegates or back-channel finance deals. It's geography. Put the left-wing candidate in states she can't win early, and momentum handles the rest.
Biden Rigged the 2024 Primary Calendar and Democrats Are Copying the Play
The 2024 cycle handed Democrats a preview. Joe Biden personally directed the DNC to make South Carolina the first primary state – rewarding the black voters who saved his 2020 campaign and conveniently ensuring the left-wing base in New Hampshire couldn't crown an insurgent.
This cycle, DNC chair Ken Martin claims there's "no national figure putting their thumb on the scale." That's the same party that had Brazile feeding debate questions to Clinton's campaign while publicly claiming neutrality.
One DNC member told reporters the Nevada-versus-South Carolina battle is "coming down to black and brown."
Another member – described by Puck as a "Bernie hater" – made the subtext explicit: putting Nevada first could "supercharge a DSA-style insurgent.”
They're not hiding the motive. They're just not announcing it on television.
AOC Is Leading 2028 Polls and the Party Establishment Is Already Moving
The Washington Examiner reported this week that South Carolina going first would be a direct boon to Kamala Harris – the same way it saved Biden in 2020.
Democrat operatives privately acknowledge AOC could raise $100 million from small-dollar donors before the first ad buy. A new University of New Hampshire poll showing AOC at 22%, edging Buttigieg by a single point for the lead.
JD Vance said last month he thinks it's "got to be AOC" for the Democrats in 2028, calling it "probably conventional wisdom."
The establishment heard all of that – and started pulling levers.
The DNC Has Rigged Its Own Primaries Since 1982
The Democrat Party has a longer history of elite calendar manipulation than most voters realize. Superdelegates were invented in 1982 specifically to give party leaders power to override grassroots voters after George McGovern and Jimmy Carter lost general elections. The entire architecture was designed to protect the establishment from the base.
They scaled back superdelegates after 2016 only because the backlash was too loud to ignore. The mechanism changed. The outcome didn't.
A 49-member committee in a Washington hotel conference room is deciding which voters matter in 2028 – and the candidates who lose those early states rarely make it to Super Tuesday.
The full DNC votes in Austin in August. Whatever they decide, it won't be an accident.
The Democrats spent years telling America their primaries were fair. Donna Brazile told them the truth.
