Donald Trump has wasted no time selecting his cabinet for his second term.
Some of his selections are expected to make it through the Senate confirmation process with little to no resistance, while others will undoubtedly face considerable hurdles.
And CNN’s studio fell silent as this Senator fully exposed the media’s character assassination of Pete Hegseth.
Senator refuses to hold back in Hegseth confirmation battle
On the campaign trail, President-elect Donald Trump promised to upend how things currently work in Washington, D.C. by installing no-sense, anti-establishment figures to serve in top roles in his administration.
After winning the election in a decisive manner, Donald Trump has wasted no time in making good on these promises – for the most part, at least.
For example, Donald Trump has nominated two-time Bronze star recipient and Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as Secretary of Defense, one of the most important roles in any Presidential cabinet.
Given Hegseth’s anti-establishment views and his loyalty to the America First movement, some political experts believe he may not have the votes needed for confirmation in the Senate.
To make matters worse for Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth, Hegseth faces a slew of unfounded allegations regarding alleged alcoholism and inappropriate conduct with women.
These factors have some so-called moderate Republicans like Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) on the fence, fearing that they could face backlash from voters for voting to confirm Hegseth.
However, on Sunday, Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) appeared on CNN’s State of the Union, where he excoriated the mainstream media and RINOs for slandering Pete Hegseth.
Mullin first voiced his support for Hegseth, claiming, “You have Pete, who is a combat veteran, two Bronze Stars, he was a major in the Army. He’s been in the public sector. He’ll go there and make the changes in the Defense Department that need to take place.”
He added, “I think he’s exactly the one we need, which is why I believe he will get confirmed at the end of the day.”
The Oklahoma Senator then went scorched earth on the mainstream media, stating, “For the media to go after him and start describing that as a drinking problem is individuals. That doesn’t understand combat veterans because they’ve never been there, they’ve never been in combat, they’ve never seen the horrific stuff that comes by, that they’ve never tasted the dirt in their mouth.”
“They’ve never heard the horrible sounds in their ears. They never had the sights that they can’t get rid of. They’ve never had the dreams in the middle of the night. I think it’s hypocritical for them to even question that,” the fed up Senator added.
Mullin just said out loud what many Americans are often too afraid to say
As Senator Mullin noted on CNN last Sunday, Democrats’ disdain for and slandering of Pete Hegseth demonstrates that many leftists do not have any respect for the military and the people that put their lives on the line for America.
Most Democrats will do anything to cast Donald Trump and his allies in a bad light, even if it means destroying the reputation of a highly decorated war hero like Pete Hegseth.
As far as Hegseth’s confirmation is concerned, it is not clear whether he has the votes, but as Senator Markwayne Mullin stated Sunday, signs point to him getting confirmed in a close vote.
