The political landscape is bleak for Chuck Schumer.

All signs indicate that his time as Senate Majority Leader will soon be over.

And now Chuck Schumer was hit with a serious accusation by Ted Cruz for illegally coordinating with his opponent.

Control of the entire federal government is up for grabs on November 5.

The latest polls indicate that former President Donald Trump now holds slim leads over Vice President Kamala Harris in the seven battleground states.

In the battle for Congress, Republicans are defending a razor-thin majority in the U.S. House.

According to FiveThirtyEight’s election forecast, Republicans win control of the House 52 out of 100 times in their simulations.

On the Senate side, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is in the fight of his life to keep his position as Majority Leader.

Democrats only have a 51 to 49-seat majority in the Senate.

But Schumer is effectively guaranteed to lose Senator Joe Manchin’s (I-WV) seat, meaning Republicans likely need to flip just one seat to take back the Senate.

And the bad news for Schumer is that there are a number of Democrat-held seats up for grabs, including Montana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Arizona.

In Montana, Republican candidate Tim Sheehy appears to be on his way to defeating incumbent Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), and Republican Bernie Moreno is locked in a tight race with incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in Ohio.

But Schumer and his fellow Democrats are now going on offense and trying to pick up a seat in traditionally-red territory.

In Texas, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is facing what appears to be a tough challenge from Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX).

And Schumer’s PAC just swooped in with a round of attack ads against Cruz in Texas.

“Democrats are scrambling to make last-minute investments in the Texas Senate race as the party faces long odds to keep their majority in the chamber,” Politico reported. “The Chuck Schumer-aligned Senate Majority PAC announced a new $5 million ad investment in the state on Thursday, with less than two weeks left in the campaign,” Politico continued. “Recent polling showed Allred within striking distance of incumbent GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, leading some Democrats to sound the alarm that the national party could be missing a historic opportunity to flip the state.”

But Ted Cruz just threw a monkey wrench into Schumer’s scheme by filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

In his complaint, Cruz accuses Allred of illegally coordinating with Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Cruz specifically alleges that Allred’s campaign violated rules governing in-kind contributions with spending on television ads through Chuck Schumer’s PAC.

“Allred and his Senate campaign are blatantly coordinating with the DSCC on television ads far in excess of the coordinated party expenditure limit, thus resulting in potentially millions of dollars in excessive in-kind contributions from DSCC to Allred,” the complaint reads. “Complainants ask the Federal Election Commission (‘FEC’ or ‘Commission’) to immediately investigate and put a stop to this flagrant violation of federal law.”

A spokesman for Cruz said that “Colin Allred’s campaign is illegally coordinating with Chuck Schumer and the DSCC,” before adding that “we are calling on the FEC to immediately investigate and put a stop to this flagrant violation of federal law.”

Texas is a long-shot for Democrats.

Democrats haven’t won a statewide race in Texas in 30 years.

But only time will tell if Texas serves as a firewall for Chuck Schumer.
