Barack Obama makes a social media post as divorce rumors swirl
Former First Lady Michelle Obama has been notably absent from major events she would typically attend with her husband.
She skipped out on the Washington, D.C. funeral for President Jimmy Carter leaving former President Barack Obama to fly solo.
All of the current and former Presidents and their spouses were in attendance at the funeral except for her.
The former First Lady cited a scheduling conflict for skipping the event.
Barack Obama also attended President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony without her.
That led to some speculation online that the couple’s relationship was in trouble.
“Hearing serious talk that the reason Michelle isn’t at the funeral isn’t that she wasn’t invited, but that she and Barack are on the outs,” Human Events commentator Jack Posobiec wrote on X.
Michelle Obama was an outspoken critic of Trump on the campaign trail last year and that led to some speculation she was showing her displeasure with him by skipping events he was at.
Trump noted that she was “nasty” to him during a campaign rally in Georgia last fall and said the former First Lady made a “big mistake” attacking him.
Barack Obama posted a picture on social media that quieted some of the rumors about his marriage.
“Happy birthday to the love of my life, [Michelle Obama], You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love you,” Obama wrote.
Michelle Obama celebrated her 61st birthday.
“Love you, honey!” Michelle replied.

Some social media commentators noted the awkward pose of the couple reaching across the table.
Others pointed out that Obama could have landed himself in hot water by posting such an unflattering photo of his wife.
Body language expert notices something strange about the Obamas
The last time that Barack and Michelle Obama were seen together in public was at a dinner in Los Angeles in December.
British body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail that Barack looked “rather somber” during the dinner.
She noted that Barack trailed her instead of walking alongside her and that the couple showed “no sign of any chatting or coupling up between them” as they left the celebrity hangout, Mother Wolf.
“[Barack] looks rather somber here but otherwise relaxed as he walks behind his wife, who sports the kind of wide, beaming smile with downward-pointing eye-gaze that suggests a coy kind of happiness,” James said.
James pointed out that Michelle lost her smile as the couple stared straight ahead into the SUV that was waiting for them.
“Michelle looks relaxed and happy walking to the car but there are no active signals of togetherness for the cameras, with Barack himself wearing a more serious or dour expression as he walks behind his wife,” James stated.
The former First Lady’s absence from the public spotlight is only going to fuel rumors about her relationship.
