Former Obama official admits that Trump was right about the border

The border crisis was one of the biggest issues in the 2024 Election. 

Democrats and their media allies tried to deny there was a crisis for years until early last year when they realized they couldn’t run from the truth in an election year. 

Vice President Kamala Harris lost the election in large part because of the record-setting levels of illegal immigration she helped preside over. 

MSNBC Morning Joe economic analyst Steven Rattner served as the “Car Czar” for the auto bailout under former President Barack Obama. 

He made a series of charts to break down 2024 for the New York Times. 

Rattner’s charts falsely claimed that the country was in wonderful shape under President Joe Biden and that President-elect Donald Trump was walking into an ideal situation. 

He alleged that Biden left Trump a strong economy and won the battle against inflation. 

There was one chart where he couldn’t sugarcoat how bad things were during the Biden administration. 

Morning Joe co-host Jonathan Lemire asked about his chart on the border for 2024 which he called a big issue for the year. 

“The border. Yes, that’s exactly right,” Rattner said. “Of course, Jonathan, the border was not Biden’s finest moment, frankly.”

Rattner admitted that Trump was right about illegal immigration spiking under Biden. 

“You can see what happened here,” Rattner continued. “And Trump is not wrong when he talks about how border crossings were quite low. They were running about 74,000 a month when he left office.”

The numbers can’t hide the crisis that Biden intentionally created at the southern border. 

“And they, in fact, did shoot up,” Rattner explained. “Some of it was some things Biden said and some ways that they put a moratorium, for example, on deportations. But in fact, we did get up here almost to 300,000 a month.”

Morning Joe ignored the border crisis in its coverage to focus on calling Trump a fascist and issues like global warming. 

An Obama official admitting that Trump was right about the border was no doubt jarring for the show’s Democrat audience. 

Rattner said that the border hurt Biden politically. 

“Unfortunately, that was pretty costly to Biden during the election,” Rattner lamented. 

He wrote in his piece accompanying the chart for the Times that the border became a costly mistake for Biden.

“Biden made a consequential mistake early in his presidency by at least seeming to encourage migrants to try to enter the United States, resulting in a surge of encounters to more than 300,000 a month by late 2023,” Rattner wrote. 

Even Democrats can’t paper over the massive political damage that flooding the country with illegal aliens did for Kamala and their party in the election.
