Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is considering a move that would make her the top Democrat on the powerful House Oversight and Accountability Committee.
But she has a bone to pick with Joe Biden first.
And all hell broke loose when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave Joe Biden this one scary demand.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) first entered Congress in 2019 during President-elect Donald Trump’s first term in office.
Donald Trump’s 2016 victory over former First Lady Hillary Clinton sent Democrats off the rails and pushed the Party even more to the Left.
Ocasio-Cortez created her “Squad” of House members who represented the far-left wing of the Democrat Party.
She is recognized for her socialist views on everything from Medicare for All to the Green New Deal to the Left’s woke gender ideology.
Over the past few years, Ocasio-Cortez and her Squad have pushed the Democrat Party to the woke extremism it espouses today.
And now, Ocasio-Cortez has one scary demand for Joe Biden before he leaves office in January.
After he pardoned his son Hunter, Ocasio-Cortez called on Biden to commute the sentences of federal inmates on death row.
“It’s less about the fact that the President pardoned his son and more about the fact that he’s only really pardoning his son when there are, in fact, many people, including Leonard Peltier, as well as several other cases of many Americans who are on death row, who should be taken off death row, and who are facing the end of their lives if this president does not act,” she said.
She demanded Biden issue “far, far, far more commutations and clemencies” before he leaves office.
“The current administration has issued a record-low number,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And what I would hate to see is President Biden leaving office with less commutations and clemency issuances than even President Trump provided.”
Ocasio-Cortez is correct.
“So far, Biden has only issued 26 pardons, a record-low number, though he issued a presidential proclamation pardoning those who had been convicted for the federal offense of the simple possession of marijuana and later expanded that for anyone convicted of possession of marijuana,” the Independent reported. “The president-elect issued clemency to 237 people during his first presidency, including Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, whom Trump nominated to be ambassador to France.”
Of course, many Republicans laugh at the idea of a potential “President Ocasio-Cortez.”
But former Trump official Monica Crowley warned Republicans not to underestimate Ocasio-Cortez.
“Just a word of warning to the Republicans, to my party, do not underestimate AOC, she’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s attractive,” Crowley said. “I think she’s wrong on everything, but she does have real grassroots support,” she continued. “And all the energy and activism in the Democrat party remains with the revolutionary left, of which she is a part.”
Donald Trump has also made similar comments about Ocasio-Cortez in the recent past.
Only time will tell whether or not she makes a bid for the White House.
But with her calling for Biden to pardon everyone on death row, the thought of a President Ocasio-Cortez should terrify every American.
