Kamala Harris has hit the ground running after she launched her campaign.

The media, celebrities, and Democrats have joined her hype train.

But a top Obama advisor gave Kamala Harris a reality check that left her worried sick.

Obama advisor tells Democrats to pump their brakes on Kamala Harris hype

Vice President Kamala Harris gave Democrats a boost of enthusiasm when she entered the race.

Democrat elites spent nearly a month in a civil war over President Joe Biden’s political future before he was forced out of the race.

They were thrilled to finally have a Presidential candidate who gave them a fighting chance against former President Donald Trump.

Harris is being treated like a rock star by the media, celebrities, and pop culture outlets.

She’s ridden a wave of media-manufactured enthusiasm to raise $200 million her first week in the race – though there are plenty of ongoing investigations that preliminarily indicate all those funds might not have been legally obtained.

Now, she’s gained ground against Trump in the polls.

CNN political commentator David Axelrod – a former top Obama campaign strategist – brought giddy Democrats back down to earth during an appearance on CNN Newsroom.

Host Jessica Dean asked him about the state of play in the Presidential race.

“I think there’s a justifiable sense of concern in [Trump’s] camp that this thing could get away from him,” Axelrod said. “It may be their race to lose, but it’s a race, so it could be lost, which is something they didn’t feel when they left that convention in Milwaukee.”

Politics is like a basketball game

CNN’s Jessica Dean noted that Harris had a lot of enthusiasm around her campaign and was gaining in the polls.

“100 percent,” Axelrod said. “There’s a lot of irrational exuberance on the Democratic side of the aisle right now because there was despair for some period of time about what November was going to look like.”

Democrats are head-over-heels for Harris not because she’s suddenly become a great candidate but because she at least gives the Party hope.

“Now people feel like there’s a chance. But it is absolutely Trump’s race to lose right now,” Axelrod continued. “He is ahead and he is ahead in most of the battleground states. They are close, they can be won by either candidate. But there’s a lot to be determined in the next 90-whatever days.”

Axelrod cautioned Democrats again about where things are at in the race.

“So yes, I think it’s a wide-open race, but Trump has the advantage right now and nobody should — nobody should be, nobody should be — everybody should be sober about that on the Democratic side,” Axelrod stated.

Harris has momentum on her side after she entered the race with uncritical media coverage.

She’s been able to capitalize on the honeymoon her campaign had.

But politics is like a game of basketball.

Each side has runs, and the other team gets a chance to score.

The Trump campaign and Republicans need to define Harris as a radical left-wing San Francisco Democrat in the minds of voters.

Kamala Harris won’t be able to count on smooth sailing till Election Day.
