Late-night TV has fallen on hard times since the era of Jay Leno and David Letterman.
It’s become another outlet to launch partisan attacks against Republicans.
And a late-night talk show host was in tears after Donald Trump delivered this epic smackdown.
Seth Myers tries to mock Donald Trump
Late-night talk show hosts like Jay Leno used to crack jokes at both political parties.
The format has undergone a dramatic shift in the Trump era.
Late-night shows have given up humor to regurgitate stale Democrat talking points.
It’s become a group therapy session for Democrats to vent about President-elect Donald Trump.
Hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert use their opening monologues to rant about Trump and Republicans.
The audience claps in support instead of laughing.
Late-night TV ratings are plummeting and Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has the top-rated late show.
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers follows the painfully unfunny Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
The show had to get rid of its studio band to cut costs last year.
Meyers is a left-wing hack who uses his show to lob attacks at Trump.
He tried to aim the President-elect with snide comments about the Los Angeles wildfires, Trump’s attempt to buy Greenland, and his proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
Meyers wasn’t prepared to have fire returned on him.
Donald Trump drops the hammer on Seth Meyers
Trump demolished Meyers and his late-night show with an epic takedown on Truth Social.
“How bad is Seth Meyers on NBC, a ‘network’ run by a truly bad group of people – Remember, they also run MSDNC,” Trump wrote. “I got stuck watching Marble Mouth Meyers the other night, the first time in months, and every time I watch this moron I feel an obligation to say how dumb and untalented he is, merely a slot filler for the Scum that runs Comcast.”
He noted that Late Night is just a partisan political show designed to help Democrats.
“These guys should be paying a lot of money for the right to give these ‘in kind’ contributions to the Radical Left Democrat Party,” Trump continued. “These are not shows or entertainment, they are simply political hits, 100% of the time, to me and the Republican Party. Comcast should pay a BIG price for this!”
Meyers tried to mock Trump for calling him out on Late Night.
“If you’re a Pete Hegseth fan, here’s the bad news: I’m about to do some jokes at his expense,” Meyers said. “But here’s the good news, he’s probably going to get confirmed as the next Secretary of Defense because it’s very unlikely that the Republicans will stand up to Donald Trump on this.”
Meyers – in a move that encapsulated late night’s rating collapse – wondered why anyone who liked Hegseth would watch his show.
“It has come to my attention that sometimes people who do not care for me get stuck watching my show,” Meyers snarked. “And to those people, I would just say: You have my sympathy, and I hope you get a TV soon that allows you to change the channel.”
Seth Meyers proudly alienates the majority of the country who voted for Trump as late-night TV slides into further irrelevance.
