Judge blasts Joe Biden for pardoning his son

Hunter Biden pled guilty to felony crimes after he failed to pay $1.4 million in federal income taxes over a three-year period. 

This would result in a trip to federal prison for most Americans, but President Joe Biden stepped in to save his son. 

Biden issued what may be the most sweeping pardon in Presidential history to his son. 

Hunter was pardoned for any and all federal crimes he may have committed dating back to the beginning of 2014. 

The President laughably claimed that his son was a victim of political persecution and was treated more harshly than the average American. 

District Court Judge Mark Scarsi, who presided over Hunter Biden’s tax crimes case, demolished Biden’s claim that his son received unfair treatment from the legal system. 

“According to the President, ‘[n]o reasonable person who looks at the facts of [Hunter Biden’s] cases can reach any other conclusion than [Hunter Biden’s] was singled out only because he is [the President’s] son.’ But two federal judges expressly rejected Mr. Biden’s arguments that the Government prosecuted Mr. Biden because of his familial relation to the President,” Scarsi wrote.

Biden’s argument that Hunter was being singled out relies on believing that his Justice Department was targeting his son in a politically motivated case. 

The judge noted that the President called the integrity of Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Biden Justice Department into question. 

“And the President’s own Attorney General and Department of Justice personnel oversaw the investigation leading to the charges. In the President’s estimation, this legion of federal civil servants, the undersigned included, are unreasonable people,” Scarsi explained. “In short, a press release is not a pardon. The Constitution provides the President with broad authority to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, U.S. Const. art. II, § 2, cl. 1, but nowhere does the Constitution give the President the authority to rewrite history.”

Biden claimed in the pardon that the only reason that his son didn’t pay $1.4 million in taxes was because he was a drug addict and that most addicts in that situation don’t get jail time. 

“For example, the President asserts that Mr. Biden ‘was treated differently’ from others ‘who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions,’ implying that Mr. Biden was among those individuals who untimely paid taxes due to addiction. But he is not,” Scarsi wrote.

Hunter Biden said when he pled guilty to the tax crimes, he admitted that he was sober when he tried to deduct prostitutes, clothes, and his daughter’s private school tuition from his taxes. 

“[Hunter] admitted that he ‘had sufficient funds available to him to pay some or all of his outstanding taxes when they were due,’ but that he did not make payments toward his tax liabilities even ‘well after he had regained his sobriety.’”

The President’s son was more interested in maintaining a lavishing lifestyle than paying his taxes.
