Prince Harry began cutting off friends after he started dating Meghan Markle
Prince Harry’s marriage to former D-list actress Meghan Markle has resulted in him moving from his home in the United Kingdom to live in Southern California.
He’s become estranged from his family and reportedly hasn’t spoken to his brother, Prince William, in years.
The changes in Harry’s life began before his marriage according to one of his former friends.
British comedian Jack Whitehall was one of Harry’s friends when the prince was a bachelor.
He revealed that everything changed once Harry began dating Meghan during an appearance on the Jase & Lauren podcast.
“I’ve come into contact with a couple of [the royals] in the past,” Whitehall recalled. “I was quite good friends with Harry back in the day. Pre-Meghan, when he was a terror.”
Harry had a reputation in the United Kingdom for being a hellraiser before he settled down.
Whitehall revealed that Harry cut off contact with friends in the United Kingdom after he began dating Meghan.
The comedian said he wasn’t with Harry when he reportedly played a game of strip pool with showgirls while on vacation in Las Vegas.
“I mean, I wasn’t, I wouldn’t say, part of the inner circle, to go back to a Vegas analogy,” Whitehall stated. “But no, I had a few nights out with him when he was quite fun.”
Harry’s relationship with friends and family changed after Meghan
King Charles III’s former royal butler Grant Harrold claimed that Harry began cutting off friends he shared with William because of the brother’s feud.
“I know quite a few of Harry’s friends who don’t hear from him at all,” Harrold said.
Harry skipped the wedding of his longtime friend Jack Mann in 2023 after he served as an usher at the 2018 wedding between Harry and Meghan.
The former royal butler lamented at how distant that Harry and William had become.
“They were both very sociable boys,” Harrold explained. “And that’s what’s so sad about it now, how they’ve gone from best of friends to nonexistent really. They have become so distant.”
William was reportedly furious at Harry for releasing his tell-all memoir, Spare, which attacked the British Royal Family.
“They were best friends, and they had the same friends, too. You’d see them in the pubs together,” Harrold said. “It was a great time for them.”
British royal expert Hilary Fordwich said that Harry’s friends began to keep their distance after they first met Meghan.
“One of the very first falling outs was when he introduced Meghan to his Eton [College] friends back in 2016 during a Sandringham country estate shooting party,” Fordwich claimed. “Ever since then, the friends have kept their distance, as has Harry.”
Harry may have lost contact with his close friends and family forever after he began his relationship with Meghan Markle.
