Gavin Newsom Has a Female Aide His Wife Can’t Stand and Paid Her Anyway

Gavin Newsom already admitted to sleeping with one blonde staffer who worked for him.

Now the same pattern is back and his wife is done staying quiet.

Now the story his wife has lived with for eight years just went public.

Lindsey Cobia Had More Power Over Gavin Newsom Than His Own Wife

California Governor Gavin Newsom was supposed to travel to Scotland for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in October 2021.

His deputy chief of staff – Lindsey Cobia, the woman California insiders nicknamed his "Swiss Army Knife" – was already there, preparing for his arrival.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who was preparing to join her husband on the trip, found out Cobia was already there – and a member of Newsom's own team confirmed to the Daily Mail that she "flipped out."

Newsom cancelled the trip, telling the public his children had staged an "intervention" begging him not to miss Halloween.

That was not the real reason.

Cobia was not some scheduler or back-office aide.

She wrote the posts that went out under his name, ran his communications operation, and had a hand in virtually every political decision he made.

One longtime colleague called her "irreplaceable."

A second source was blunter: Cobia exercised more control over Newsom's schedule, whereabouts, and words than his own wife ever did.

Jennifer noticed.

Over eight years, sources described blowups every six months to a year, with Jennifer demanding to know why Cobia had so much access, why her face kept disappearing from the photos Cobia posted, and why Cobia was standing next to him at events where his wife was not.

One former official told the paper that on election nights, Cobia was banned from the room whenever Jennifer was present.

When Newsom attended Jesse Jackson's funeral in Chicago this past March and brought Cobia but not his wife – whose nonprofit is chaired by Jackson's niece – Jennifer was furious.

With Jennifer pushing, Newsom quietly sidelined Cobia from her leadership role running the Campaign for Democracy PAC.

She landed at Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign as a senior strategist and watched him implode over sexual misconduct and assault allegations weeks later.

The Gavin Newsom Affair His Wife Has Never Forgotten

Here is what Newsom's spokesman Izzy Gardon – who dismissed the entire story as "sexist gossip" – is counting on the public not to remember.

In 2007, Newsom stood before cameras as mayor of San Francisco and admitted to sleeping with his appointments secretary, Ruby Rippey, who was married to his campaign manager and close friend Alex Tourk.

Tourk resigned when he found out.

This past July, Rippey published a first-person essay in Vanity Fair calling the relationship not love but "intoxication" and challenging how Newsom described it in his own memoir.

She wrote that for Newsom, the affair was a footnote in a longer rise to power.

For Rippey, it was the event that permanently divided her life in two.

Newsom's team issued one statement and moved on.

Nobody is asking him to explain why his wife checks the travel list before he leaves the country.

The Lindsey Cobia Bonus and the Gavin Newsom 2028 Problem

Newsom's Campaign for Democracy PAC – the vehicle he has been using to position himself for a 2028 presidential run – paid Cobia a $195,000 annual salary plus a $213,000 bonus in 2025, according to RedState's Jennifer Van Laar, who has tracked the Newsom-Cobia relationship for two years.

Christopher Rufo separately reported that Newsom's office identified records of communications between Newsom and Cobia and refused to release them.

Now sources tell the Daily Mail that Cobia could be brought back to lead a new super PAC supporting Newsom's presidential campaign.

That means the woman his wife spent eight years trying to push out of his orbit could end up running the operation that puts him in the White House.

A DOJ investigation is circling both Newsom and Jennifer Siebel Newsom right now.

The man who wants to be the next president has a pattern that goes back twenty years – and his wife has known it better than anyone.
