A Royal Insider Revealed Whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Will Apologize for the Oprah Interview

Prince Harry spent five years calling his family racist on every platform that would have him.

Last week a report claimed Harry and Meghan were finally ready to say they were sorry.

Then a royal insider went to the people who would know and asked directly.

The Meghan Markle Royal Reconciliation Story That Collapsed in 24 Hours

The Daily Express ran a story claiming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were preparing to "express their regrets" to Prince William and Kate Middleton over their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.

A source told the outlet Harry and Meghan "always knew they would need to eat humble pie" upon their UK return.

The source even claimed Meghan would personally apologize for accusing a royal family member of raising concerns about Archie's skin color before he was born.

Royal journalist Tom Sykes called it "total rubbish" when Page Six reached him – and a source close to Harry called the apology claims "made up."

Sykes wasn't finished: "Harry has always said he will never apologize for anything."

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield backed him up.

"Prince Harry and Meghan remain defiant," Schofield told Page Six.

"I would treat claims that they now regret Oprah and are preparing to eat crow with serious skepticism."

Schofield added that her own sources had confirmed the story was "absolutely not true."

What Meghan Markle Said in the Oprah Interview That Prince Harry Still Refuses to Walk Back

The interview aired on CBS in March 2021 and blindsided the entire palace.

Meghan told Winfrey that a member of the royal family had "several conversations" expressing concerns about baby Archie's skin color before he was born.

She claimed Archie would not receive a royal title or security protection.

Kate Middleton made her cry during wedding planning – directly contradicting what the palace had let the press report for years.

Meghan also claimed she had experienced suicidal thoughts after joining the royal family and that the palace refused to get her help.

During the interview, Harry had declined to name which family member raised the skin color concerns.

"That conversation I am never going to share," he told Winfrey, "but at the time it was awkward; I was a bit shocked."

Harry called his father and William in the days following the broadcast.

Oprah's friend Gayle King described those conversations as "not productive."

Two years later, Harry released Spare – a tell-all memoir that alleged William physically attacked him during an argument over Meghan.

The palace absorbed every hit without comment.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Moved Back to England With Zero Regrets

Harry and Meghan landed back in Britain on August 26, 2026 – six years after relocating to California.

Their children Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, enrolled in a Cotswolds private school in September.

Harry cited his father's cancer battle as the reason for the return – King Charles, by all accounts, is warming to his younger son.

William is not.

Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt predicted the return would leave William "apoplectic."

The Prince and Princess of Wales are giving the Sussexes the cold shoulder – deliberately, as a matter of principle.

Kate was privately managing a cancer diagnosis when Spare landed in January 2023.

William was holding the monarchy together while his brother toured bookstores describing their fistfight.

Every time Harry and Meghan need something from the royal family – proximity, legitimacy, access to a dying father – tabloids suddenly start running reconciliation stories.

The Oprah interview was sold as therapy. Spare was sold as memoir. Together they cost the royal family whatever goodwill remained.

Now Harry is back in England with his father running out of time – and the tabloids are running apology stories again.

The timing is hard to separate from commercial reality – the California deals dried up and the British royal family is still the most valuable thing Harry has access to.

But the apology never comes because victimhood is the whole business model.

The moment she says sorry, the story she's been selling ever since falls apart – no wronged duchess, no sympathy tour, no Netflix follow-up.

She's just a woman who torched a royal family for a deal that didn't last.

Kinsey Schofield said: "The pattern has remained consistent."

Five years in, zero apologies, and no sign that's about to change.
