Lindy Li was one of the most powerful Democratic fundraisers in America.
She raised $2 million for Kamala Harris in a single week – it took a full year to raise $1.1 million for Joe Biden.
Her rooftop fundraisers at a luxury Philadelphia apartment drew top Democratic figures from across the country.
She appeared on television gushing about Biden's competence.
But she was lying – because the Democratic Party made lying the price of admission.
When Li posted on Instagram that Biden looked "infirm" at a 2023 donor event, the campaign didn't call to discuss it.
They confiscated her phone.
Li was at the Democrat watch party the night Biden destroyed his re-election campaign on the debate stage, standing and shaking as one of her heroes face-planted in front of the entire nation on big screens.
When Biden arrived after the meltdown, she consoled him.
She felt, in her own words, "love and pity – actual pity – and that is not the feeling you want to have for your President."
She knew he was done, her whole party knew it, and every one of them kept raising money anyway.

While Li watched Biden fade, party leadership was burning through donor money at a spectacular rate.
Harris spent $1 billion in her losing bid against Donald Trump.
Sixty-nine thousand dollars went to the crew working on a Vogue magazine feature.
Li received care packages from the campaign every three weeks – her own money, raised from friends who trusted her, going to "trinkets."
"Why are you preaching to the converted?" she asked.
Harris pushed Li to publicly praise a candidate she knew was fatally flawed, and Li kept raising money while the party threw it at celebrity concerts and designer gift baskets and called it a political campaign.
Li called the Democratic National Convention "a bacchanal of self-congratulation and coastal elitism, the smell of uncut money wafting in the air."
They lost – to the candidate they had spent three years calling an existential threat to democracy – because they replaced a cognitively broken man with what Li calls "a cognitive mediocrity."

Van Jones – a former Obama adviser, not a Republican – called the Biden concealment operation "a crime against this Republic."
David Axelrod – Obama's chief strategist – said the idea that Biden could win was "preposterous."
The book Original Sin documented over 200 Democratic insiders who watched Biden's decline and said nothing – staffers who compared his behavior to family members with Alzheimer's, aides who blocked cognitive testing, campaign officials who delayed his wheelchair because the optics were bad.
Not one of them told the public the truth before Election Day.

The Democrats used that trust against them.
They succeeded at keeping the money flowing.

Li told the Daily Mail the American people "are fuming right now – they are hurting," and she believes Democrats will pay for it at the 2026 midterms.
They were lied to by a party that called lying about Biden's decline an act of loyalty to the country.
