For years, Democrats treated AOC like an embarrassing kid sister they had to drag with them.
Now the same party is lining up behind her for the White House.
What she just pulled off in the 2028 race has donors, strategists, and prediction markets moving in ways that should alarm every Republican in America.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez built her career demanding the abolition of ICE, Medicare for All, and a Green New Deal that would ban your gas stove and crash the economy.
In August, she appeared on ABC News and laughed off a decade of radical leftist agenda-pushing with four words.
"Woke 1 was crazy," she said, quoting a New York City Council member.
She offered no apology for the DEI mandates, no accountability for the skyrocketing crime in cities that defunded police, and no acknowledgment of the open border that invited millions of illegal aliens into the country – just a breezy chuckle as she attempts to rebrand herself.
Democrats called it "a signal" of presidential ambitions.
Clay Travis, founder of Outkick, wasn't buying it.
"Many of us remember being ripped for opposing all these insane policies," Travis said on Fox News. "Now Dems want to pretend that era never happened."
Democrat strategist Eddie Vale sees it differently. "She has very sharp political and policy skills that every month more people are realizing what they thought about her was partially a caricature," Vale said.
"When you combine that with her generational talent for communicating in a way and on platforms that most Democrats still struggle with, her stock is definitely going to keep rising."

None of this is happening by accident. Ocasio-Cortez spent the spring crisscrossing the country with Bernie Sanders on the "Fighting Oligarchy" tour, rebranding her socialist platform as a populist crusade against the wealthy.
She has endorsed Democrat candidates in competitive races this cycle and pledged to campaign for them this fall – collecting political debts and building goodwill inside the party the same way Obama did in 2006, two years before he announced.
Robert Wolf, who hosted Barack Obama's first New York fundraiser in 2007 and has been a Democrat kingmaker ever since, is watching closely.
"AOC has been really interesting to watch the last few months," Wolf told The Hill Insider. "If she raises her hand … the number of volunteers will be nothing like we've seen since 2007. The young people are going to come out in droves, and I think it would literally change the field overnight."
The donor class is moving with him. LinkedIn co-founder and Democrat megadonor Reid Hoffman – the man who poured millions into electing Kamala Harris in 2024 – was asked Wednesday at Politico's Decoded Summit whether he would back Ocasio-Cortez in 2028.
"It depends a little bit," Hoffman said. "I think she's much more pragmatic than people give her credit for." Two years ago, Hoffman made the same case for Harris to hundreds of venture capitalists, pitching her as "a great centrist."
A Quantus Insights national survey of likely voters had Vice President JD Vance leading Ocasio-Cortez by just 3.3 points – 45.1% to 41.8%. Prediction markets place her odds of winning the Democrat nomination at around 18%, ahead of Jon Ossoff, Gavin Newsom, and Kamala Harris.
Nate Silver, the polling analyst who called the last three presidential elections, picked her as his top 2028 Democratic draft pick.
AOC 2028 Platform Includes Abolishing ICE and a 93 Trillion Dollar Green New Deal
Obama won the presidency on "hope and change" – two words that meant nothing and promised everything. His first term delivered the largest peacetime federal expansion in American history, a healthcare law that destroyed individual plans millions of Americans were told they could keep, and a foreign policy that handed ISIS the territory to build a caliphate.
The Green New Deal was her first piece of legislation – a proposal Heritage Foundation economists estimate would cost $93 trillion over ten years. Her co-authored version of Bernie Sanders' Medicare for All Act eliminates every private health insurance plan in the country.
Abolishing ICE has been part of her platform since day one, alongside a 70% top marginal tax rate on income over $10 million. The Democratic Socialists of America – actual socialists – pulled their endorsement during her 2024 reelection because they decided she wasn't radical enough on Israel and Palestine.
None of those positions have changed. The word she used to describe them on ABC News has, and Democrats rewarded her for the rebranding.
A party that just handed the White House to Donald Trump in a historic landslide is now rallying behind the candidate who makes Kamala Harris look like a moderate.
