Kamala Harris watched open borders help doom her failed 2024 Presidential campaign.
Democrats are plotting their path forward on immigration enforcement.
Scott Jennings just issued a warning to voters about every Democrat running for president in 2028.
What the DNC Resolution to Abolish ICE Actually Does
The Democratic National Committee held its summer meeting in Austin last Saturday and passed two resolutions on ICE – one calling for reform, one calling for abolition.
Resolution 27, the abolition measure, cleared the Resolutions Committee 25 to 12 before the full membership waved it through without a single dissenting voice.
The resolution goes well beyond shutting ICE down.
It dismantles the immigration detention system, pulls qualified immunity from ICE agents, chokes off DHS funding tied to interior enforcement operations, cancels contracts with private detention facilities, and creates mass amnesty pathways for illegal aliens already in the country.
Louisiana DNC member Michele Johnson introduced the measure, arguing that Democrats need to stop hedging.
"I think one of the reasons why people are not trusting the party is because we sound so academic," Johnson said.
She's a member of the New Orleans chapter of the Democrat Socialists of America.
DNC Chairman Ken Martin tried to downplay the vote, insisting that the official party platform gets set at the 2028 convention.
What he didn't explain is how any Democrat survives a presidential primary without embracing a resolution the entire membership just endorsed by acclamation.
Scott Jennings Warns Every 2028 Democrat on Immigration Enforcement
CNN's Scott Jennings watched the vote and went straight to the consequence.
"The resolution does not establish the party's 2028 platform, but reveals the growing influence of the 'Abolish ICE' movement inside the Democratic Party," Jennings said.
"I suspect Democratic candidates will be forced to adopt this position if they hope to be remotely competitive in the 2028 presidential primary. Trying to be relevant in the Democratic primary for president is going to be a sight to behold, whether it's abolish ICE or other crazy positions you might have to take."

The 2018 primary season proved him right before he even said it.
"Abolish ICE" swept the Left flank of the Democrat Party after Trump's first-term immigration enforcement.
A 2018 Politico/Morning Consult poll found only 25 percent of voters supported eliminating ICE, while 54 percent wanted to keep it.
Democrats have been hammered for their support for abolishing ICE and attacks on law enforcement over the last three election cycles.
Now, in August 2026, with ICE posting its highest monthly arrest total in agency history – 51,000 arrests in July alone – the DNC just doubled down.
ICE Sets Arrest Record as Democrats Push to Abolish It
The FBI released official crime data last week showing the U.S. homicide rate fell to its lowest level on record.
DHS reported that more than 3 million illegal aliens have left the country since Trump took office, including an estimated 2.2 million self-deportations.
The connection between aggressive interior enforcement and falling crime rates is not something the mainstream media is rushing to report.
The DNC doesn't want to hear it either.
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters put the vote in plain terms.
"Democrats made it official: they care more about protecting violent illegal aliens than American families," Gruters said. "While President Trump and Republicans are securing our border and standing with law enforcement, Democrats want to let dangerous illegal criminals run wild in our communities."
The polling backs Gruters, not the DNC.
A recent Civiqs survey found 50 percent of voters oppose abolishing ICE, with only 43 percent in support – a number pulled up almost entirely by Democrat voters and younger voters.
Democrats went to Austin and came home with a platform built to lose those voters a second time.
Democrats just handed Trump's successor the easiest immigration attack ad in modern political history – and they did it by unanimous voice vote.
