Hasan Piker Wore a Mao Zedong Suit to the 2026 College Democrats Convention
Hasan Piker is a far-left Twitch streamer with millions of followers who has spent 2026 as the Democratic Socialists of America's most prominent celebrity surrogate.
His July 18 appearance at the College Democrats of America summer convention was not subtle.
He stood before a crowd of young Democrats dressed in a Zhongshan suit – the uniform of Mao Zedong – and called for the removal of any Democrat who funded ICE, supported Israel, or dared to compromise with Republicans.
"No more to the Democrats who compromise, who conciliate, and who betray us," Piker declared to applause.
The clip was viewed over 1.4 million times within days of posting.
The Democratic Socialists of America have run Piker as their public face throughout the 2026 midterm cycle, and their platform now openly calls for abolishing the U.S. Senate and defunding the Pentagon.
Antisemitism watchdog group Canary Mission told Fox News Digital that Piker is "a malicious figure who has repeatedly faced criticism for rhetoric supporting terrorism."
Xi Van Fleet – a survivor of Mao's China and author of Mao's America – noted that Piker praised Mao while having no idea that Mao "killed more communists than any other communist leader."
The DSA has been racking up primary victories across the country in 2026, particularly in New York, where socialist candidates are now reshaping the party from within.
James Carville Calls for a Democrat Party Schism on Fox News
James Carville did not mince words on The Sunday Briefing with anchor Jacqui Heinrich.
"I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker, I can tell you that right now," Carville said.
"If he becomes a force in a Democratic Party, I'm out of here."
Then came the line that defines the 2026 Democrat civil war.
"Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party," he said. "One of us is going to leave. It might even be me."
Carville pulled the Democrat Party back from the Left in 1992 and branded Bill Clinton a New Democrat.
Now he watches socialists dismantle everything he built.
For months, Carville has pointed directly to the DSA's demand to "seize the means of production" and warned that the party faces a formal schism.
On his podcast, he singled out DSA-backed candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier – a New York socialist who went on record against the American flag – as proof the party has lost its mind.
On Fox News, he went further.
He warned that far-left Democrats value Lenin over Martin Luther King Jr.
And he called the socialist wing a collection of over-credentialed ideologues who think they know more than ordinary Americans.
Carville's discomfort matters less than the numbers.
CNN’s Van Jones, Obama’s former Green Jobs Czar, warned after the New York primary results that the DSA has "a bigger army, every time, win or lose" — built precinct by precinct while establishment Democrats wrote checks from a distance and hoped television would do the work.
"The roof is collapsing on the Democratic Party establishment," Jones said.
Carville now uses the word "schism" without apology.
This collapse is entirely self-inflicted.
For years, the Democrat establishment invited Piker onto their stages, watched him praise Mao and celebrate 9/11 imagery on his livestreams, and did nothing.
Now that a Twitch streamer in a communist suit runs the party's youth operation, Carville wants out.
He spent five decades building the machine that produced this moment – and he is watching a 30-year-old in a Mao costume drive it off a cliff while the College Democrats cheer.
Carville cannot stop what he helped create.
He agrees with most of the socialist platform – he just knows it will cost Democrats elections.
An openly communist party will hand Republicans everything they need going into 2028.
When the man who put Bill Clinton in the White House is threatening to quit the Democrat Party on Fox News, the question is no longer whether the party is in crisis.
The question is who inherits the wreckage.
