Greg Gutfeld Said Two Words About Graham Platner That Democrats Desperately Need You to Forget

The Democrat Party spent four years running Joe Biden as the face of moderate normalcy while radicals ran the White House.

Now they're doing it again – and Greg Gutfeld just named exactly what's happening.

What he said on The Five is something the media is counting on you to miss.

Graham Platner Nazi Tattoo Scandal Gave Democrats the Cover They Needed

Graham Platner won Maine's Democrat Senate primary on June 9 despite carrying enough scandal to disqualify ten candidates.

A Nazi Totenkopf skull tattoo he wore on his chest for nearly two decades. Explicit texts to women while newly married. A DUI. Offensive Reddit posts spanning years. A former girlfriend describing him as volatile and abusive.

Democrats knew all of it. They nominated him anyway – by over 70 percent.

On The Five, Greg Gutfeld broke down why the media is doing Platner a massive favor by keeping all eyes on the tattoo.

"There are two cover-ups going on," Gutfeld said. "The first obvious cover-up is the tattoo. He literally covered it up. And the reason why he covered it up is because he knew that it was a Nazi tattoo."

Gutfeld pointed to Platner's own shifting explanations as proof. Platner tailors his tattoo story to whoever he's trying to impress – telling left-wing women it reminded him how bad America was, and telling right-leaning women it marked him as a warrior. Two different stories. One tattoo.

That's not confusion – that's calculation.

But Gutfeld's sharper point wasn't about the ink at all.

Graham Platner Socialist Agenda Is What Democrats Are Actually Protecting

"The bigger cover-up," Gutfeld said, "is the policy."

Platner isn't a confused veteran who made some mistakes. He's a far-left populist who hired a top Zohran Mamdani advisor to produce his campaign launch video, rails against the "billionaire economy," endorses universal healthcare, and says dismantling corporate power is central to his job description.

Bernie Sanders endorsed him. Elizabeth Warren endorsed him. Ro Khanna endorsed him.

Maine GOP director Jason Savage called him "Maine's Mamdani" – and the comparison holds. Platner isn't packaging himself as a moderate who drifted Left. The oyster boat and the combat tours are the costume. Bernie Sanders socialism is the agenda underneath.

That's exactly what Gutfeld nailed.

"He may sound like a Scranton pipe fitter," Gutfeld said, "but he's a purple-haired Antifa screamer. He's another Trojan Horse."

The media's obsession with the tattoo is doing Democrats' work for them. The New York Times and other outlets keep the focus on the cheating, the explicit texts, the Nazi symbol – because covering Platner's actual policy agenda would expose exactly why the Left is protecting him.

"They hope that if we focus on the women, we won't notice these other things," Gutfeld said.

The Same Play, Run Again

Democrats ran this play before. Biden was the palatable moderate face on a radical apparatus.

His cabinet and his executive orders belonged to the socialist wing – but Biden's folksy image gave Democrats cover to deny it. By the time most Americans caught on, the damage was done.

Platner is a smaller-scale version of that playbook. The walrus mustache and fishing boat imagery say "working-class Maine."

The policy platform says AOC with a combat record. For a Democrat Party that took a beating with male voters in 2024 and has been searching for a way back ever since, Platner looked like a gift.

The problem is the gift came with a Nazi tattoo, explicit texts to women while newly married, and Reddit posts that required their own apology tour.

Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois – who chairs the House Democrats' largest caucus – called the tattoo "disqualifying" and said there is "no way" Platner didn't know what it meant. He announced he would not support the nomination.

Thirty percent of Maine Democrat primary voters couldn't bring themselves to cast a ballot for him. He ran nearly unopposed and still lost three in ten of his own party.

Senator Susan Collins has to be watching this with a quiet smile.

The tattoo matters. The Reddit posts matter. The explicit texts matter. The domestic abuse allegations matter. And the policy – the universal healthcare, the billionaire-economy dismantling, the socialist infrastructure Sanders and Warren spent years building – matters most of all.

That's exactly why the New York Times isn't covering it. That's why CNN keeps replaying the tattoo. The scandal is the cover. The cover is the point. Gutfeld saw it. Now you have too.
