Democrats are six months from midterms and John Fetterman just admitted what their campaign ads actually say.
His own party has been punishing him for months for not falling in line.
He went on Bill Maher and finally said it – and what came out of his mouth will make every Democrat in a swing district want to disappear.
Fetterman Breaks With Democrats on Bill Maher and Names the Candidates Running on Nothing
John Fetterman didn't speak in abstractions on Real Time with Bill Maher about the state of the Democrat Party.
He named New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani – a self-described socialist – and Graham Platner, a Democrat Senate candidate in Maine, as examples of where his party is headed.
Then he described the campaign strategy Democrats are actually running on.
"My colleagues, and people that are running, whether for the Senate or the House, they're literally running on f— Trump," Fetterman said.
"They have campaign commercials [with that message]. It's absurd."
Illinois Democrat Senate Nominee Juliana Stratton ran an ad in her hotly contested primary early this year of people simply repeating “F*** Trump.”
Bill Maher – no fan of Trump – sat there and agreed with him.
The party of the working class is running campaign ads that say nothing and offer nothing except rage at a man they lost to twice.
Fetterman Was the Only Democrat Who Voted Against the DHS Shutdown and His Party Punished Him for It
The DHS debacle tells you everything about what Democrats think winning looks like.
Senate Democrats shut down the Department of Homeland Security for 76 days – the longest DHS shutdown in American history – to protest ICE enforcement.
TSA workers missed paychecks, FEMA operations were disrupted, and the Coast Guard went without funding.
ICE – the actual target of their protest – kept running the entire time, because the Big Beautiful Bill had already funded it with $75 billion for four years.
Fetterman stood on the Senate floor and said exactly that.
"This shutdown literally has zero impact on ICE functionality," he said, becoming the lone Democrat to vote with Republicans to reopen DHS – five separate times.
Chuck Schumer kept blocking it anyway.
Fetterman then cast the decisive 8-7 committee vote to advance Markwayne Mullin's nomination as the new DHS secretary, breaking with every single Democrat on the panel.
His party's response was to attack him.
DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta posted on X: "You're a mess @JohnFetterman."
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Fetterman "knows better."
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro – who already hadn't spoken to Fetterman since a falling-out detailed in Fetterman's memoir Unfettered – declined to say whether he'd support Fetterman's reelection in 2028.
Democrat Party Has No Message for 2026 Midterms Except Trump Derangement Syndrome
"I refuse to engage in those extreme terms, and we have to find a better way forward, and now I've been punished [for] find[ing] value in certain views," Fetterman told Maher.
Fetterman told Maher he's still a committed Democrat who votes with the caucus 93% of the time and has no plans to switch parties.
He said he thought Democrats were supposed to be a "big tent" party.
The Left decided that opposing Trump on everything – the ballroom, the DHS funding, the Mullin nomination, the Iran war powers vote – was a governing philosophy, and anyone who disagreed would be made an example.
Mamdani won the New York City mayor's race running as a socialist – and the Democrat Senate candidate Fetterman called out by name, Graham Platner, called himself a communist in verified Reddit posts before running for office.
Chuck Schumer just endorsed him anyway.
That's the bench Democrats are fielding six months before midterms, while their campaign ads say nothing except a profanity and a president's name.
John Fetterman went on Real Time with Bill Maher and told the whole country what that looks like from the inside.
The DNC called him a mess.
Every voter in a swing district just got a preview of what Democrats are actually selling – and one of their own senators just told them not to buy it.
