It’s not wise to test Donald Trump.
Both foreign and domestic foes are finding that out.
And Donald Trump got immediate results after throwing down one scary ultimatum.
Hamas caves to Trump’s ultimatum
Donald Trump was horrified by what he saw.
The terrorist group Hamas released three emaciated Israeli hostages as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel that only came to fruition because of Donald Trump’s election.
Trump told reporters Hamas treated the Israelis like the Nazis did the Jews during the Holocaust and that he was getting sick and tired of waiting around for Hamas to make good on their agreement to release hostages.
“I saw the abductees coming out, they look like holocaust survivors, I know there is an agreement that Hamas releases a little every week, but I don’t know how long I will continue to endure this, my patience is running out,” Trump declared.
Trump set a deadline of noon on Saturday for Hamas to release all the hostages it was required under the deal or else Trump would unleash hell on Hamas.
“All bets are off . . . let hell break out,” Trump later said as he signed executive orders.
But Trump did make clear he was only speaking for himself.
“I’m speaking for myself. Israel can override it,” Trump added.
Hamas then announced it would indefinitely postpone the hostage release over Trump’s comments and supposed Israeli violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Hamas’s defiance lasted all of three days.
Facing the prospect of renewed Israeli military bombardment of Gaza following Trump’s ultimatum, Hamas caved and announced it would release the hostages as scheduled.
“Accordingly, Hamas confirms its continued position to implement the agreement in accordance with what was signed, including the exchange of prisoners according to the specified timetable,” a statement from Hamas read.
Trump’s threats also achieved results on the prospects of a post-war Gaza.
In a White House press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump announced the U.S. would take over Gaza, move the Palestinians to safer communities in other countries, and rebuild the strip into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
That prospect terrified the other Arab nations who don’t want Palestinians moved to their countries.
Trump’s out-of-the-box thinking achieved the desired results as Egypt began trying to marshal the other neighboring countries to come up with a new plan where they would pay for rebuilding Gaza and assume responsibility for security.
“Egypt’s broad idea, people familiar with the matter said, is to keep Palestinians in place and form a committee of technocrats drawn from across Gaza to administer the enclave. Palestinians trained by Arab forces would provide security. Egyptian officials are now seeking public and private funding sources across the region and hope to hold a donor conference to secure commitments. The reconstruction plan is expected to take up to five years and would be carried out in stages, with the first focused on restoring essential services and providing shelter,” the Wall Street Journal exclusively reported.
The established manner of thinking in the Middle East led to decades of war, needless American deaths, and trillions flushed down the drain on nation-building schemes.
Americans elected Donald Trump to bring his unconventional thinking to the situation.
So far it is paying off.
