Democrats are starting to realize that it’s every man for himself.

One politician broke with his party in a major fight.

And a top Democrat went rogue to deliver one important message to James Comer.

New York City Mayor to testify before Congress about illegal immigration

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) was an outlier in his party when he criticized former President Joe Biden’s handling of the border crisis.

A massive influx of illegal aliens into New York left the city at the breaking point.

Adams bucked Democrats again when he offered to cooperate with “Border Czar” Tom Homan’s effort to arrest illegal aliens in New York City who’ve been convicted of crimes.

“His goal is the same goal I have,” Adams said after a December meeting with Homan. “We cannot allow dangerous individuals to commit repeated . . . acts of violence in our cities across America.”

He stands in contrast to Democrat Mayors who’ve vowed to fight tooth and nail to protect every illegal alien in their cities from deportations including heinous criminals.

Adams announced that he would testify before the House Oversight Committee next month about sanctuary cities.

He’s been critical of aspects of New York City’s sanctuary city law.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston (D), Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D), and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) will also testify at the hearing about their city’s sanctuary laws.

Adams, a former New York City cop, has built closer ties to the Trump administration and Republicans as he faces federal corruption charges.

He’s criticized his city’s sanctuary law but said he’ll enforce it as long as it’s on the books.

“Mayor Adams has been clear that New York City is committed to working with our federal partners to fix our broken immigration system and focus on the small number of people who are entering our localities and committing violent crimes,” Adams Press Secretary Kayla Mamelak Altus said.

James Comer is ready to probe sanctuary cities

Sanctuary cities are a public safety for their residents and an obstacle to President Donald Trump’s efforts to deport illegal aliens.

House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R-KY) warned sanctuary city Mayors they would be made to comply with federal law on social media.

“Sanctuary mayors have prioritized criminal illegal aliens over the American people,” Comer wrote on social media. “They owe Americans an explanation for their policies that jeopardize public safety and violate federal immigration law by releasing dangerous criminal illegal aliens back onto the streets.”

“We will press these mayors for answers and examine measures to enforce compliance with federal immigration law,” Comer added.

The Trump administration has begun to crack down on sanctuary cities in the wake of Democrat resistance to mass deportations.

Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered the Justice Department to halt federal funding to sanctuary cities and nonprofits that provide support for illegal aliens.

More than $1.5 billion in grants from the Justice Department were distributed to sanctuary cities in 2023.

Democrat Mayors who want to violate federal law are going to start feeling the heat.
