Left-wing groups work to protect illegal aliens from being deported
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents under the direction of “Border Czar” Tom Homan have launched raids nationwide to arrest illegal aliens.
The first phase of the Trump administration’s plan for the mass deportation of illegal aliens is focused on criminals and national security threats.
New York Post reporter Dana Kennedy embedded with a team of ICE agents as they went on a predawn raid to apprehend illegal aliens in Chicago.
Chicago police don’t cooperate with ICE because of the city’s sanctuary law.
That left agents to hunt down illegal aliens throughout the city.
But that wasn’t the only obstacle that ICE agents ran into.
Left-wing activist groups, politicians, and school officials in Illinois are working with illegal aliens, even those convicted of heinous crimes, on how to avoid ICE and how to exercise their legal rights if they’re arrested.
ICE arrested an illegal alien from Venezuela who crossed the southern border in 2023 under former President Joe Biden.
The illegal alien claimed he had done nothing wrong and that a judge would let him walk.
He had been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, and battery.
“Sometimes it’s a very uphill battle,” ICE agent Sam Olson said. “We have their information because they were previously arrested and booked in and fingerprinted somewhere, therefore we know they are here. But it’s not as if we are getting notification if these criminal aliens are arrested. Nobody local will tell us that.”
The illegal alien from Venezuela missed a court hearing last year where a judge ordered that he be deported.
He was arrested by ICE last year but freed by the Biden administration.
Illegal aliens are trained on how to resist ICE
ICE agents go on what are called “knock and talks” since they seldom get warrants from a judge.
They can only make an arrest if the suspect opens the door.
Catholic Charities, La Voz Latina, and school officials hold seminars and put out flyers telling illegal aliens what to do if they encounter ICE.
“I do not wish to speak with you, answer your questions, or sign or hand you any documents based on my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution,” a flyer distributed in Chicago reads.
Homan said that sanctuary cities like Chicago are making their jobs harder but they’re working through it.
“Sanctuary cities like Chicago are making it very difficult,” Homan said. “I call everything they’re doing ‘How to Escape ICE.’ But we’re fighting back.”
“We have some plans in the pipeline that are going to increase our chances of making it easier for ICE to make more arrests,” Homan continued. “As it is, having all these teams out and with help from the ATF and other agencies is like a force multiplier. Our guys are doing a great job and we aren’t going away.”
Community activist Terry Newsome said that even violent criminals are being coached on how to deal with ICE.
“Even [Venezuelan Prison gang] Tren de Aragua are being coached by the radical Illinois Democrats on how to avoid ICE,” Newsome explained.
The Left will do everything in its power to keep illegal aliens from being deported.
