Confirmation hearings for Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees will start when the new Congress begins on January 3.
Many of Trump’s nominees must be confirmed by the Senate.
And John Fetterman pulled one rogue move involving Trump cabinet nominees that has Democrats at their wits’ end.
President-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to take office on January 20, and the new Congress kicks off a couple of weeks earlier on January 3.
Even though there’s still more than three weeks left until Trump begins his second term, his job really started the moment he was declared the President-elect.
Trump and his team are busy laying the groundwork and setting the stage for when he takes office on January 20.
The most important task facing Trump is hiring White House staff and selecting cabinet nominees for his administration.
“In modern times, a President-elect nominates his picks for top officials ASAP after winning the election,” CNN reported on the cabinet selection process. “Planning should ideally begin before Election Day.”
This is not an easy process, as there are more than 4,000 political positions in the federal government to fill.
And more than 1,000 of these positions require Senate confirmation.
Donald Trump has already filled most of his important cabinet positions with nominees who must now be confirmed by the Senate.
But Democrats and establishment RINOs have been trying to tank several of Trump’s nominees after they successfully forced former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to withdraw his nomination for Attorney General.
Pete Hegseth has faced a nonstop smear campaign since Trump nominated him to lead the Department of Defense.
Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee Robert Kennedy Jr. have also faced attacks and smears.
Some ruling class elites, like Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), have hinted at plans to use every tool they have to thwart Trump’s agenda by blocking his key cabinet positions and judicial nominees.
“Durbin can stall the nomination process significantly,” Breitbart reported. “This includes blocking unanimous consent requests, challenging quorums, and prolonging Senate floor debates, which all can force Senate Republicans to expend time and political capital to get nominees through Congress’s upper chamber.”
But while many Democrats are scheming to undermine Trump, John Fetterman (D-PA) is taking a different approach in an effort to position himself as a moderate ahead of his 2026 re-election bid.
Fetterman knows Trump won Pennsylvania by three points and that the GOP won every statewide race, including firing incumbent Senator Bob Casey (D-PA).
In a post on X, Fetterman claimed that he plans to vote on nominees after making an informed decision instead of partisan politics.
“I believe that it’s appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. Senator to have a conversation with President-elect Trump’s nominees,” Fetterman wrote. “That’s why I met with Elise Stefanik and Pete Hegseth, just wrapped with Tulsi Gabbard, and look forward to my meetings with others soon. My votes will come from an open-mind and an informed opinion after having a conversation with them.”
“That’s not controversial, it’s my job,” he added.

Of course, John Fetterman is a far-left Democrat.
He even supports allowing doctors to perform sex change operations on minors without parental consent.
But Fetterman can see the writing on the Pennsylvania wall.
And he’s only trying to save himself from facing the same fate as Bob Casey.
