There are many traditions in U.S. politics that a lot of Americans might not even be aware of.
However, these traditions continue to be a part of the nation’s fabric even if they’re not overly publicized.
But now Melania Trump sent Jill Biden a brutal message with this subliminal rejection.
Melania won’t meet with Jill Biden
Soon, Melania Trump will become First Lady for the second time after President-elect Donald Trump won his second term.
However, the incoming First Lady allegedly has no plans to go to the White House and meet with First Lady Jill Biden.
It’s been a longstanding tradition for the current First Lady to meet with her successor and enjoy tea together at the White House before the transition.
But this time, one source claims that Melania says she won’t meet with First Lady Jill Biden because of the infamous raid on Mar-a-Lago.
The federal government raided the Trumps’ Mar-a-Lago home during an investigation regarding classified documents.
According to a source familiar with the decision, “She ain’t going. Jill Biden’s husband authorized the FBI snooping through her underwear drawer. The Bidens are disgusting.”
The source added, “Jill Biden isn’t someone Melania needs to meet.”
Meanwhile, her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, will sit down with current President Joe Biden in the Oval Office to hold their traditional post-election meeting.
In 2016, Melania visited the White House after her husband won the election and participated in a tour with then-First Lady Michelle Obama.
When Trump lost his bid for re-election in 2020, he did not invite the Bidens to the White House before Joe officially took office.
That decision was a break in a decades-old tradition at the time, and now, it looks like Trump’s wife might do the same.
In August 2022, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home during a probe accusing him of withholding classified White House documents.
Since then, the 54-year-old Melania has made several statements emphasizing her unhappiness over the raid, including when she told the hosts of Fox & Friends it was “an invasion of privacy” during a September interview.
Melania has a right to be angry
During the FBI’s raid, agents went through Melania’s underwear, dug through her husband’s office, and reportedly searched one of her son Barron’s bedrooms.
“I saw unpleasant stuff that nobody wants to see. And you get angry because, you know, nobody should be putting up with that kind of stuff,” she said during the discussion on Fox & Friends.
Ultimately, the confidential documents case was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in July 2024.
However, it’s clear that the trauma and anger resulting from that incident still live on inside Melania, and understandably so.
Although one source told the New York Post that Melania chose not to meet with Jill Biden because of the raid, a separate source told CNN it was because of a scheduling conflict associated with her book promotion tour.
The source also noted that the decision wasn’t set in stone, so only time will tell whether or not Melania Trump does end up enjoying a nice cup of tea with soon-to-be former First Lady Jill Biden.
