Goldberg defends vicious attacks on Trump supporters
The harpies on ABC’s The View lost what’s left of their minds over the Presidential election.
Fear and loathing about former President Donald Trump became a staple of the poorly-rated daytime talk show for months.
One of the blunders of President Joe Biden was celebrated by the show’s hosts.
Biden called Trump supporters “garbage” during a tirade he unleashed on a video call with a Hispanic voter group over an off-color joke Trump-supporting comedian Tony Hinchcliffe told about Puerto Rico at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.
“And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage.’ Well, let me tell you something … I don’t know the Puerto Rican that I know — or a Puerto Rico, where I’m — in my home state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people,” Biden ranted. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.”
This was reminiscent of two-time failed Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” speech during the 2016 election.
But this was worse.
Clinton only called some of Trump’s supporters “deplorables,” while Biden called everyone who supports the former President “garbage.”
Democrat politicians were quick to distance themselves from Biden’s remarks, but The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg celebrated them.
“So you know they’re working very hard to spin this to some crazy end, but this is my problem — let me explain to y’all. I don’t understand why all the pearl-clutching over Biden’s statement,” Goldberg said. “Why they all have a problem with what Biden said when what this other guy has said.”
Goldberg did all sorts of mental gymnastics to suggest that Biden’s smear was justified by comments made by Trump.
“Let’s see all the stuff he’s talked about, what he’s called Democrats,” Goldberg claimed. “Evil, dangerous, Marxists, communists, fascists, sick people, the enemy within and said all that just this week… So I don’t understand why you clutching your pearls. You’re trying to make something out of a tongue slip. Yeah, Hillary called these folks deplorable. Yeah, okay.”
The View tries to do damage control for Whoopi Goldberg
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that the deplorables comment backfired on Clinton and galvanized Trump supporters in 2016.
“There is a completely unfair standard with Donald Trump where people, I’m saying there is an unfair standard where his supporters have decided it’s baked in when he insults people but do take offense. Deplorables did matter, that comment from Hillary Clinton,” Griffin whined.
“But it turned out she was right,” Goldberg fired back.
The garbage comment ended up backfiring on Biden and Democrats.
Donald Trump rode to a campaign rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in a garbage truck in a move that enraged the media.
He spoke at the rally wearing a highlighter yellow safety vest instead of his suit jacket.
