There’s less than five weeks left until the November 5 election.

Control of the entire federal government is on the line.

And CNN’s top political analyst summed up the election with seven words that left Chuck Schumer in a state of panic.

Most of the election coverage and discussion taking place right now has to do with the Presidential race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

But the entire federal government is up for grabs next month.

Republicans control the House and Democrats control the Senate by razor-thin margins.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is in the fight of his life to try and hang on to his Senate majority.

There are currently 48 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and three Democrat-leaning Independents in the Senate, giving Schumer the majority by a 51 to 49 margin.

However, Chuck Schumer and his fellow Democrats are playing defense in states that are Presidential battlegrounds, as well as states that have voted for Trump twice, such as Montana and Ohio.

Presidential elections always drive voter turnout, but there’s a lack of enthusiasm amongst Democrat voters for Kamala Harris.

This is bad news for Chuck Schumer.

“Like the last Class 1 Senate cycle in 2018, Republicans are considered to have a fundamental advantage, as Democrats are defending 23 of the 33 seats,” The Hill reported. “Among these, three are in states that Donald Trump won in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, while no Republican-held seats are in states won by Joe Biden in 2020,” The Hill continued. “In the last two Senate elections during presidential years (2016 and 2020), only one senator was elected in a state that the opposing presidential nominee won.”

The Hill’s Decision Desk HQ currently “predicts that Republicans have a 56% chance of winning the Senate.”

But they’re not the only ones who can see the writing on the wall.

Even Democrats’ allies at CNN were forced to admit that Chuck Schumer is in trouble.

On Thursday, CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten appeared on The Source to discuss the battle for the Senate Majority with host Kaitlan Collins.

“One of the second most important things that we’re going to learn in this election is which party is going to take control of the Senate based on the numbers right now, it seems as if Democrats control is slipping away and that Republicans are poised to get the majority,” Collins began, before asking Enten, “What races are you watching that are the most critical?”

Enten tossed out West Virginia as a guaranteed GOP pick-up since former Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) is retiring.

He then painted a very bleak picture for Democrats.

After mentioning a couple of races in which Democrats must win at least one seat to keep the majority – Montana, Florida, and Texas – Enten said “they’re not really all that close in any of them.”

“I think that really paints the picture,” he said. “It’s dire times for Democrats who want to keep Senate control at this particular hour when it comes to the House, Senate, Presidential.”

Enten concluded with seven words that made Chuck Schumer’s stomach drop.

“The Senate is most likely going Republican,” he concluded.
