Goldberg demands Americans pay more in taxes
Whoopi Goldberg counted herself among the legion of media leftists unimpressed with President Trump’s 90-day tariff pause.
Trump pressed the pause button so other countries could negotiate new trade deals that Trump argued would put America first and isolate Communist China.
President Trump also said he was pausing the tariffs to cause nerves in the bond market, because if the bond market collapses and no one buys U.S. treasuries, then America can’t finance its debt and the economy goes under.
Goldberg claimed the 90-day pause didn’t help Americans, who she said were still struggling to make ends meet even though wholesale egg prices fell 79 percent, oil is down to $59 a barrel, and the latest inflation report showed prices cooling faster than expected at 2.4 percent.
“A 90-day pause doesn’t mean anything to anyone because people, as you said, are struggling with everyone that they’re living with on a day-to-day basis. Now you know what we’re fighting against,” Goldberg stated.
Goldberg then pivoted to bizarrely claiming that Americans now need to pay more taxes to fund big government.
“But I also believe that it’s very important to remind people that now is the time for each and every one of us to suck it up and make sure that we know what we need to take care of. If you’re in an area where the school district is losing, then you got to pay a little more taxes and you gotta help the schools out,” Goldberg stated.
President Trump argued the tariff revenue can be used to pay down the debt.
Goldberg is furious that Trump sought to correct America’s fiscal imbalance rather than throwing more taxpayer money at big government.
“If you’re finding that your libraries are falling apart, you have to give more. This is where we come in. We cannot depend on [President Donald Trump’s administration]. This is us. Because we all thought they’re talking about somebody else – no, they’ve been talking about us the whole time. And when I say us, I mean all of us,” Goldberg added.
Goldberg went on to absurdly claim the economy under Joe Biden—where Americans suffered under the worst inflation in 40 years—was superior to the one under President Trump.
President Trump was elected to fix the economy.
The President believes tariffs will do that through forcing new trade deals that are fairer to the American people.
Democrats are still stuck on the idea of raising taxes.
These are the competing visions that both parties will carry into the 2026 midterm election.
