Democrat governors have been thumbing their nose at federal immigration law for years.
But their days of defiance may be numbered.
And three Democrat governors are running scared after James Comer issued this warning about charges.
Three sanctuary state governors face the music
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) summoned three Democrat governors to appear before his committee.
New York’s Kathy Hochul, Illinois’ JB Pritzker, and Minnesota’s Tim Walz were compelled to testify about their opposition to President Trump’s deportation agenda.
These governors have positioned themselves as leading opponents of Trump’s efforts to remove criminal illegal aliens from American communities.
They’ve repeatedly proclaimed their states as safe havens for illegal immigrants while promising to block Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
But Comer made it crystal clear that their defiance won’t be tolerated under the Trump administration.
"If they continue to defy federal law, then I’m sure they’re going to face the consequences of a Trump Department of Justice," Comer told Newsmax’s "Wake Up America" before the hearing.
The Kentucky Republican said his committee wanted to hear whether these governors would finally start working with border czar Tom Homan and ICE agents.
"These three governors have been on record numerous times stating that they are a sanctuary state and that they have no intention of working with this government and Tom Homan to deport the most criminal illegals who have crossed over into our country during the Biden-Harris administration," Comer explained.
Democrats try to thwart ICE
Comer said that ICE has faced repeated interference in all three states.
The Kentucky lawmaker warned this as part of a broader "movement that’s taking place throughout a lot of blue cities and blue states."
With more violent protests planned against Trump on Saturday, Comer said the committee needed to know if these governors would encourage chaos or finally comply with federal law.
"Complying is not optional," Comer declared.
The hearing comes as law enforcement officials express serious concerns about the safety of ICE agents operating in sanctuary jurisdictions.
Tim Walz has been particularly inflammatory in his rhetoric, comparing ICE agents to Nazi secret police.
"You’ve got Gov. Walz, who compared ICE to gestapo agents," Comer said. "That is an unthinkable statement to make by a governor and someone who had a shot at being vice president of the United States."
The stakes couldn’t be higher
Comer emphasized that Border Patrol and ICE agents are simply trying to keep Americans safe after four years of Biden’s open border policies.
"When Joe Biden was president, the border was wide open," Comer said. "Bad people were crossing that border every day. Fentanyl was crossing the border. You were having instances of human trafficking across the border."
Under the Trump administration, border security has been restored, but now comes the essential next phase of removing the criminal illegal aliens who entered during the Biden years.
"These three governors have been openly and proudly defiant of the Trump administration’s effort to make our cities and states safer," Comer said.
The congressman made it clear that if these governors continue their obstruction, they’ll face the full force of the Trump Justice Department.
Biden White House cover-up investigation heating up
But immigration isn’t the only explosive topic Comer’s committee is tackling.
Next week, the committee will hear testimony concerning the Biden White House and allegations that his health and mental decline were being covered up.
"Hopefully, they’re not going to plead executive privilege," Comer said. "This is serious. You’re supposed to be transparent about the health of the president of the United States. The question here is, did the president know who was using his signature in the autopen?"
If Biden wasn’t actually signing executive orders and pardons during his presidency, those documents could "probably be deemed null and void in a court of law," according to Comer.
The implications are staggering – it would mean that potentially hundreds of Biden administration actions were illegitimate if an incapacitated president wasn’t actually making the decisions.
Comer promised a "very heated conversation" if the three governors continue their defiant stance against federal immigration law.
The days of sanctuary state governors openly flouting federal law and endangering American communities may finally be coming to an end.
