This legal document is bad news for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Normally Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez finds herself in the middle of scandal either because of what she said or posted on social media.

This time is different.

And this legal document is bad news for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is allegedly more than five years delinquent on paying corporate taxes for a children’s book publishing company she founded over 10 years ago.

Because of fees and penalties for nonpayment, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s bill shot up from over $1,600 to over $2,400.

“New York state filed a tax warrant against Brook Avenue Press, a children-focused publishing house Ocasio-Cortez founded in 2012, on July 6, 2017, to collect $1,618 in unpaid corporate taxes,” The Washington Examiner exclusively reported. “Ocasio-Cortez has yet to pay a penny of her overdue corporate taxes, causing the current balance of the tax warrant to swell by 52% to $2,461 as of Wednesday afternoon.”

Back in 2020, Ocasio-Cortez’s spokeswoman told The New York Post that the Congresswoman so far refused to pay the bill because she was contesting the penalties.

“The Congresswoman is still in the process of contesting the tax warrant,” AOC spokeswoman Lauren Hitt told The Post. “The business has been closed for several years now, and so we believe that the state Tax Department has continued to collect the franchise tax in error.”

“As anyone who’s tried to contest a tax bill in error knows, it takes time,” Hitt stated.

But Rep. Ocasio-Cortez – who earns a six-figure salary as a member of Congress – faces accusations of hypocrisy due to the fact that she has proposed a 70% tax rate on successful Americans, claiming the wealthy do not pay their fair share.

“You look at our tax rates back in the sixties and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, let’s say from zero to $75,000, may be 10 percent or 15 percent, etc. But once you get to the tippy-tops — on your 10 millionth dollar — sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent,” Ocasio-Cortez said in 2019. “That doesn’t mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more.”

This is just more left-wing hypocrisy.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demands everyone else pay above and beyond what they owe in taxes while she allegedly refuses to pay her own tax bill.
