Despite the change in office, the Left is still moving forward with Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial.
Many Americans agree that the priority right now should be the state of the economy and how the unnecessary government-imposed lockdowns are still impacting businesses and families.
But this Republican Senator has made a stunning confession that will leave you speechless.
RINO Senator Pat Toomey out of Pennsylvania went on air saying he opposed the idea that moving forward with the impeachment trial even though Donald Trump is out of office is unconstitutional. This statement goes against what 45 of his colleagues have to say.
Toomey sat down in a CNN interview with fake news anchor Jake Tapper to defend his previous comments on the subject. He believes that Donald Trump committed impeachable acts, one of them being the speech made at the January 6 rally that was given before a portion of the crowd stormed the Capitol.
“I stand by everything I’ve said, Jake. I still think the best outcome would have been for the president to resign. Obviously, he chose not to do that. Now starting Tuesday, I’m going to be a juror, and my job is going to be to objectively evaluate the very specific article of impeachment that is going to be presented to us, has been presented to us, examine that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to listen to the arguments on both sides and make the decision that I think is right,” Toomey declared.
However, Toomey also stated that impeachment was fruitless since 45 Republicans voted for dismissal on Constitutional grounds and that an acquittal was guaranteed.
And even though impeachment is meant to remove and convict, Toomey dismissed the idea that it did not apply to a former President.
Rather than stick to the facts, Toomey created his own interpretation of the Constitution, which had no evidence of any real understanding of the text, to uphold his view that the Senate had grounds for holding an impeachment trial for a former President.
“I think it’s very unlikely. You did have 45 Republican senators vote to suggest that they didn’t think it was appropriate to conduct a trial, so you can infer how likely it is that those folks will vote to convict. I disagreed with their assessment. I think it is Constitutional. I think it’s clearly Constitutional to conduct a Senate trial with respect to an impeachment. In this case, the impeachment occurred prior to the president leaving office. My job will be to listen to both sides of this, evaluate the arguments, and make a decision,” Toomey mentioned.
This isn’t surprising considering Toomey has always been a RINO at heart.
Just 11 years ago, in 2010, Toomey won election as a Tea Party Republican.
Once in office, Toomey betrayed conservatives by working with Barack Obama to pass a national gun registration scheme into law. Their plan ultimately failed.
Now, once again in 2021, Toomey is going along with the schemes of the Left to run roughshod over the Constitution and give a bad name to conservatives.
