Chuck Schumer has his work cut out for him if he hopes to hang on to his status as the Majority Leader in the U.S. Senate.

His path to maintaining that power could run through the Lone Star State.

And now the Democrat candidate aiming to replace Ted Cruz just came out against Texas pickup trucks.

Democrats want Cruz out of the Senate in the worst way

Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) is the chair of the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

In an interview with The Nevada Current, Senator Peters recently revealed the DSCC’s offensive and defensive priority targets for 2024.

The DSCC is making defending Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Sherrod Brown (R-OH) their top two priorities this election cycle.

However, they’re also hoping to flip at least two Republican-held Senate seats.

“We also want to go on the offense, and offense is going to be very important,” Senator Peters said. “And right now our focus is Texas and Florida.”

In Florida, that means Senator Rick Scott (R-FL).

Former Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has seen momentum in recent polls in Florida as Senator Scott’s current lead in the RealClearPolitics is down 4 points.

Meanwhile, in the Longhorn State, Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) has cut incumbent Senator Ted Cruz’ (R-TX) once sizable lead to just 6 points.

However, Allred may have just handed Cruz a huge gift by jumping in bed with environmental extremists.

Allred votes against gas cars and the energy industry

This will not play well in Texas, but Rep. Alred wants gas-powered automobiles all but eliminated in the next eight years.

Senator Cruz pointed out on X that the former National Football League linebacker cast a vote to advance the Biden-Harris regime’s radical green agenda.

“Climate Colin just voted to back Biden and Kamala’s radical EPA mandates that would force two-thirds of all new vehicles to be electric by 2032,” Team Cruz tweeted. “Allred just said yes to crippling the Texas oil and gas industry once again.”

As the Cruz team points out, Allred standing with the likes of Vice President Kamala Harris and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) will hurt hardworking Texans in two ways.

First, Texans love their trucks, and they don’t want electric-powered pickups.

According to the House clerk’s office, Allred voted against a GOP resolution condemning the Biden-Harris EPA’s car fuel standards, which the agency projects will lead to a big spike in electric vehicle sales.

Only eight Democrats voted for the resolution that Allred opposed – two of those eight are running for re-election in Texas.

The bill would also hurt the energy industry in Texas, which is America’s largest energy producer.

According to the State Comptroller, nearly one million Texans work in the energy industry.

But if Allred and his green cronies have their way, those blue-collar workers will be looking for a new line of work and a new way to provide for their families.
