Ron DeSantis put Democrats on notice after he called for this crackdown

Ron DeSantis is taking a stand for law and order.

He put one dangerous trend in his crosshairs.

And Ron DeSantis put Democrats on notice after he called for this crackdown.

Crime is surging across the country because of Democrats’ embrace of soft-on-crime policies and disastrous ideas, like defunding the police.

However, under Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida is a stark contrast to the crime wave sweeping other Democrat-controlled states.

Crime in the Sunshine State is down nearly 10% year-over-year, and currently sits at a 50-year low.

Governor DeSantis isn’t resting on his laurels in keeping Florida a law-and-order state either.

He came out swinging at a disturbing new trend targeting children during a recent “Preserving Law & Order in Florida” press conference.

The Florida Governor promised that the state would make possessing fentanyl, and other drugs resembling candy aimed at children, a first-degree felony and send those criminals to jail for life.

Under President Joe Biden’s border crisis, the country is being flooded with fentanyl pouring across the wide-open southern border.

Law enforcement has seen a rise in “rainbow fentanyl,” a form of the deadly drug that makes it look like candy to entice children.

DeSantis said that Florida “make it a first-degree felony to possess, sell or manufacture fentanyl or other controlled substances to look like candy.”

Drug dealers targeting children with rainbow fentanyl would face a mandatory life sentence and fines up to $1 million.

He also vowed to provide an additional $20 million in funding for local law enforcement to stop fentanyl trafficking in the state’s upcoming budget.

“They will jam fentanyl into almost anything nowadays,” DeSantis said. “So they’ll actually do it and make it look like candy, that’s been dubbed ‘rainbow fentanyl’.”

Governor DeSantis noted that Border Patrol agents seized more than 250,000 fentanyl pills over the course of just two days last year with many of the pills resembling candy.

Border Patrol official Michael Humphries said the fentanyl seizures “could be the start of a trend with Transnational Criminal Organizations targeting younger users.”

“This is really targeting our youngest and most vulnerable kids,” DeSantis said. “This is not something that you can do and maybe you have some side effects but you get over it. The lights can go out with these fentanyl overdoses, and the chance of a fatality is much higher than with many other drugs.”

Drug overdose deaths, primarily from fentanyl, are topping 100,000 per year for the first time under President Biden.

Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans 18-45, and drug dealers are starting to take aim at kids.

Ron DeSantis is cracking down on one of the most horrific trends to develop during the growing fentanyl crisis under the Biden regime.
