Ron DeSantis is on an epic winning streak as Governor of Florida.
He’s caused the left to lose their minds.
Now he just got a major victory over Disney that left Democrats fuming.
Ron DeSantis doesn’t back down from a political fight.
After he proposed his Parental Rights in Education bill, the Left threw everything they had at him.
The corporate-controlled media launched a smear campaign against it by calling it the “don’t say gay” bill.
Left-wing activists convinced Disney’s woke leadership to come out against the bill.
Disney is the biggest employer in Florida and a corporate powerhouse.
They have one of the biggest and most powerful lobbying teams in the state.
Leftists believed getting Disney to come out against the bill would get weak-kneed Republicans to back down.
But DeSantis stood strong against the corporate titan and the bill was signed into law.
He then put Disney’s special tax advantages in his crosshairs during a special session of the Florida legislature.
Disney was given quasi-government status through the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which let it run municipal functions and gave it preferred tax status.
After DeSantis signed the repeal of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, Disney is waving the white flag of surrender.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney’s strategy in Florida is now to keep quiet about politics.
The Journal reports, “Disney had been burned too many times over the past two months tangling with Mr. DeSantis, the company’s allies in the state legislature said, and keeping quiet would give the company the best shot at working out a resolution with the governor.”
This represents a total surrender to DeSantis after trying to go toe-to-toe with him over the parental rights bill.
Republican State Senator Jeff Brandes said, “This was shock and awe from the Governor.”
“It just shows how big a challenge Disney faced in saying anything at all in the legislative process,” he added.
DeSantis’ Press Secretary Christina Pushaw highlighted the failure of Disney’s approach.
“No corporation could possibly have swayed Governor DeSantis’ dedication to protecting kids and parents’ rights,” Pushaw said.
“Disney’s vow to ‘repeal’ HB 1557 and overrule the majority of Floridians, as well as our legitimately elected government, has backfired as expected,” she continued.
“Waging culture wars against common-sense legislation – on parental rights and child safeguarding – is bad for business, particularly for a company that has built a successful brand over the decades by marketing wholesome entertainment to families,” she concluded.
This is a massive victory for DeSantis against the biggest woke corporation in his state.
DeSantis put them in their place and now they’re out of the woke politics for the time being.
He stood up to woke corporate power when other RINO Governors were sniping at him for the move in the corporate-controlled media.
And standing up for parents’ rights against a woke juggernaut like Disney will only increase his standing with conservatives.
