One damning fact left Gavin Newsom’s political future on thin ice

Gavin Newsom's 2028 Presidential dreams just hit a brick wall.

A financial bombshell dropped that exposes where his loyalties really lie.

And one damning fact left Gavin Newsom's political future on thin ice.

The numbers don't lie – and they're brutal

California expects to spend 28 times more on healthcare benefits for illegal aliens than on state law enforcement in the 2025-2026 budget period.¹

Read that again. Twenty-eight times more.

Newsom's final budget allocates $348 million to law enforcement while the state's own budget experts estimate the tab for giving full health benefits to illegal aliens amounts to $10 billion.²

That's not a typo. That's not California math. That's Gavin Newsom's actual priorities spelled out in black and white.

California's Legislative Analyst's Office revealed a 35% higher figure than the $7.4 billion cost Newsom originally estimated in his January 2025 budget proposal.³

The man can't even get his own estimates right when it comes to handing out free healthcare to people who shouldn't be here in the first place.

The state's Medi-Cal program provides comprehensive coverage for doctor's visits, medications, and dental and vision care for 1.7 million illegal aliens, who represent 11% of the program's enrollees.⁴

Illegal immigrants' health benefits will consume a fourth of the Medi-Cal money flowing from state coffers.

One in four dollars. Going to people who broke the law to get here.

Newsom's "universal healthcare" turned into a fiscal trainwreck

Newsom championed this expansion as achieving "universal access to health coverage," making California the first state to provide all immigrants meeting income requirements access to Medicaid in 2022.⁵

He couldn't get single-payer healthcare for Californians, so instead he gave it to illegal aliens. That's the priority.

The costs exploded faster than anyone predicted – or faster than Newsom admitted they would.

The state originally projected spending $3 billion per year on healthcare for illegal aliens.⁶

California officials recently admitted the actual tab for illegal immigrants' Medicaid hit $9.5 billion for the 2024-2025 budget year alone, with $8.4 billion coming directly from the state's general fund.⁷

That's more than triple the initial estimates. Triple. Either Newsom can't do basic math or he knew all along and lied about it.

Pick one – neither answer is good for someone eyeing the White House.

The expansion drove Medi-Cal enrollment to nearly 15 million people, with 1.7 million of those being illegal aliens who gained access through Newsom's policy.⁸

The federal money laundering scheme

Here's where it gets really good. California pulled off an accounting trick that would make Bernie Madoff proud.

While on paper the state claims to use only its own funds for illegal immigrants, California exploited loopholes in Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rules to obtain extra federal Medicaid matching dollars.⁹

Even the Biden Administration's CMS admitted California's accounting gimmick wasn't in keeping with "the intended design" of their rules.¹⁰

Translation: California scammed the system, and even Biden's people had to admit it.

California jacked up its tax on Medicaid insurers in 2023, generating $16.7 billion during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 fiscal years.¹¹

The state dumped these amounts into the general fund, then claimed federal reimbursement for higher payments to insurers, resulting in California obtaining $9.5 billion in federal funds with no increase in state costs.¹²

California got $9.5 billion in federal money through creative accounting. That's not budgeting. That's a shell game designed to stick federal taxpayers – including you – with California's bill for illegal alien healthcare.

Trump shut down the scam

President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law in July closed the loophole.¹³

No more free federal money for California's illegal alien healthcare program.

Newsom's been scrambling ever since, negotiating with legislative Democrats throughout 2024 on changes to stop the fiscal bleeding.

California Democrats finalized their panic plan in June: In January 2026 the state will freeze all illegal adult enrollment, revoke dental coverage, and reduce certain clinic payments.¹⁴

In July 2027, they'll introduce a $30 monthly premium – 96% lower than the average $650 that actual Californians with employer-sponsored plans pay.¹⁵

So illegal aliens will get healthcare for $30 a month while American citizens in California pay $650. Got it.

California's Legislative Analyst's Office even proposed a tax on the uninsured of $900 or more to make up the shortfall.¹⁶

Tax Americans to pay for illegal aliens' healthcare. That's the California way.

Law enforcement gets the scraps

Let's get back to that 28-to-1 ratio because it deserves more attention.

Newsom found $10 billion for illegal alien healthcare. He found $348 million for state law enforcement.

That $10 billion could hire 50,000 police officers at $200,000 per officer including benefits. Instead it's going to people who broke federal law to get here.

Newsom's spokesperson tried damage control, claiming California's crime rate has been "rapidly declining" and that "law enforcement budgets are funded primarily through local funding."¹⁷

That's not the point and Newsom knows it.

California cities and counties spend roughly $20 billion on local police and sheriff's departments from all revenue sources.¹⁸

But the state budget reveals state-level priorities. And Newsom's priority is crystal clear: illegal aliens over law enforcement by 28 to 1.

Remember when Newsom fought Trump's National Guard deployments to protect ICE facilities in California? Called them an affront to "states' sovereign rights to handle public safety matters?"¹⁹

This is the same governor whose budget prioritizes healthcare for illegal aliens over law enforcement by a factor of 28 to 1.

You can't make this up.

The Presidential candidate nobody wants

The costs keep climbing while California faces a projected $12 billion budget deficit.²⁰

Newsom's response to criticism? He dismissed it as "California derangement syndrome" in an October Bloomberg interview.²¹

California derangement syndrome. That's what he calls it when people point out he's spending 28 times more on illegal alien healthcare than law enforcement.

Voters don't need a syndrome to see what's happening here. They can read a budget.

$10 billion for illegal aliens. $348 million for law enforcement. That's not derangement syndrome talking. That's math.

This is the man who wants to be President in 2028. The man who thinks spending $10 billion on people who broke the law to get here while giving law enforcement table scraps is "California derangement syndrome."

Every voter in America should see that 28-to-1 spending ratio before Newsom ever gets near a Presidential debate stage.

Those numbers tell you everything you need to know about where Gavin Newsom's priorities lie.

And they tell you exactly why his Presidential ambitions should die in California where they belong.
