Joe Biden is a notorious gun-grabber.
He and Vice President Kamala Harris represent the most anti-gun administration in American history.
But liberals are rethinking the Second Amendment for one ironic reason.
For the second year in a row, gun sales have spiked due to a nationwide surge in crime.
And approximately 40% of the purchasers are first-time gun owners.
Even blue enclaves like Los Angeles and New York have seen residents rushing to gun shops to buy weapons.
Some Democrat buyers were even frustrated that they had to wait in order to get their weapons – they got a chance to experience the ramifications of their gun control policies.
The rise in gun ownership reflects Americans’ dissatisfaction with Biden and the Democrats on public safety.
The Washington Examiner reported:
“Polling shows voters are dissatisfied with the way the Democratic Party’s leaders have managed the crime wave. An ABC News/Ipsos poll published earlier this week found that just 36% of voters approve of President Joe Biden’s handling of crime, while 61% disapprove. On gun violence, 66% of voters disapprove of Biden’s performance, with 32% approving.”
Biden is under water across the board, but his negatives on crime have to be deeply concerning for the Democrats.
Even Democrats in blue cities are getting tough on crime.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed blustered in response to a recent crime wave:
“It is time for the reign of criminals who are destroying our city – it is time for it to come to an end. And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement, more aggressive with the changes in our policies, and less tolerant of all the bullsh*t that has destroyed our city.”
Los Angeles has also seen an uptick in violent crime.
Even residents in Beverly Hills are arming themselves after a rash of follow-home robberies and a horrific home invasion that resulted in murder.
The Examiner continued:
“The loss of confidence in Biden’s ability to navigate the issue has come as the nation’s homicide rate hits historic highs. And the growing concern is pushing people in some of the country’s most prosperous neighborhoods to get creative about keeping their streets safe. Applications for concealed carry permits have exploded in Los Angeles County, where voters went for Biden by more than 40 points. Since late 2018, the LA County Sheriff’s Office approved roughly 2,100 concealed carry permit applications, compared to the less than 200 permit applications that were approved by the same office the four years prior . . .”
Progressives can bloviate all they want about their big-government ideas, but none of that matters if residents don’t feel safe in their own homes.
