Chuck Schumer’s shutdown strategy just got exposed in the most Louisiana way possible.

The Senate Minority Leader thought he could spin his government shutdown tactics without anyone calling him out.

And John Kennedy used one hilarious line to expose Chuck Schumer that left Fox News hosts in stitches.

Kennedy brings his signature wit to Schumer’s shutdown spin

U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) appeared on Fox & Friends and delivered exactly what viewers have come to expect from the sharp-tongued Republican.

Fox host Ainsley Earhardt played a clip of Schumer arguing that "We’re fighting for the American people. And it’s not just one small group of American people that want this, it’s across the board, Fifty-five percent of Trump voters, hardly a flank in our party, want this. That’s why we’re doing it."

Earhardt then noted that "he wants $1.5 trillion added to this for health care" before asking Kennedy for his reaction.

That’s when Kennedy unloaded with the kind of folksy wisdom that’s made him a conservative favorite.

"Well, I listened to the clip of Senator Schumer. His relationship with the truth is very casual," Kennedy began, setting up what would become the quote of the morning.

"The truth is that this is a political shutdown. Senator Schumer is – he’s nervous as a pregnant nun about losing his re-election to the socialist wing of his party, led by Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, which is in control."

The Fox hosts immediately burst into laughter at Kennedy’s colorful comparison.

But the Louisiana Senator wasn’t finished dismantling Schumer’s strategy.

Kennedy exposes Schumer’s real game plan

After getting the laughs with his "pregnant nun" line, Kennedy shifted into serious strategic analysis that showed exactly why Schumer’s in trouble.

"Now, we will eventually come out of this shutdown. Here’s how I think it will happen," Kennedy explained. "Chuck, Senator Schumer, is a smart man. He’s been around a long time. His first car was a chariot."

Kennedy then laid out Schumer’s probable exit strategy with the kind of insider knowledge that comes from decades in the Senate.

"Washington is all he’s ever known his entire life. He knows he’s on shaky ground here in terms of policy," Kennedy continued. "So here’s how I think it’ll end. Schumer will go to six or eight of his colleagues and say – Democrats of course – and say, ‘I want you to vote to lift the shutdown.’"

The real revelation came when Kennedy explained Schumer’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering.

"Now, he’ll say, ‘I can’t vote with you, I’ve got to appear to be tough, I may even have to criticize you, but wink, wink, nod, nod, I’m trying to make the loon wing of the party love me, but you bail me out here,’" Kennedy predicted.

Schumer caught between his base and reality

Kennedy’s analysis exposed the fundamental problem facing Schumer and Democrat leadership.

They’re trapped between the radical left wing of their party that demands extreme positions and the political reality that those positions are toxic with voters.

When Schumer starts bragging that "fifty-five percent of Trump voters, hardly a flank in our party, want this," you know the Democrats are grasping at straws to make their shutdown look reasonable.

Kennedy saw right through the spin and called it what it is – a "political shutdown" driven by Schumer’s fear of getting primaried by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the socialist faction.

The Louisiana Senator’s warning about Schumer’s tricky position was particularly insightful.

"But he’s gotta be careful with that because he doesn’t want it to look like a mutiny. Because then he looks even weaker," Kennedy observed.

That’s exactly the bind Schumer finds himself in – he needs moderate Democrats to bail him out of this shutdown mess, but he can’t be seen abandoning the left-wing position that got him into trouble in the first place.

Look, Kennedy just laid out the entire Democrat playbook in about two minutes of television.

Schumer’s not fighting for principle here – he’s fighting for his political survival against the radical wing of his own party.

The "nervous as a pregnant nun" line got the laughs, but Kennedy’s strategic breakdown showed why conservatives should feel confident about how this shutdown ends.

When Democrat leaders are more worried about their left flank than they are about governing, that tells you everything you need to know about their priorities.
