Joe Biden created another political headache for himself.
This one could cost Democrats big time.
That’s because Joe Biden said four words that landed him in hot water.
In an interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes, President Joe Biden declared the pandemic over, roughly 18 months after the American people did so.
“The pandemic is over,” Biden declared. “We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over.”
Americans largely rejected Democrats’ insistence on wearing masks, and the number of people getting COVID booster shots tailed off as more data rolled in proving the vaccines were ineffective, and not as safe as previously advertised by the government.
But President Biden’s declaration that COVID is over created massive headaches for the Democrat Party.
Democrats in Congress were looking to wring tens of billions of more “COVID spending” out of their next government funding bill, in an effort to buy more votes in November’s Midterms.
But Republicans are rightly objecting, as Democrats don’t have a good answer for why more money should be printed out of thin air – driving up inflation yet again – to fund another $22 billion in spending, on top of the TRILLIONS already spent, for a pandemic Biden just declared “over.”
President Biden’s comments also created issues with his U.S. military vaccine mandate – if the pandemic is over, why should the men and women of America’s armed forces be forced to take the jab?
And if the pandemic is over, why should the U.S. military be forced to take booster shots to prove they are fully vaccinated?
One of the odd features of Joe Biden’s Presidency is that he will say things on the record – such as “the pandemic is over” or declaring U.S. troops will defend Taiwan against Communist China – only to have his handlers walk back everyone of his claims with “anonymous sources.”
It’s becoming increasingly clear to most Americans that President Biden is not really in charge of his regime – unelected bureaucrats and political operatives are calling the shots.
One official who was willing to disagree with Biden on the record was Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Fauci claimed America was not yet ready to live with the virus as an everyday part of life.
“We are not where we need to be if we are going to quote ‘live with the virus’,” Dr. Fauci claimed. “We still must be aware of how unusual this virus is, and continues to be, in its ability to evolve into new variants which defy the standard public health mechanisms of addressing an outbreak.”
Fauci is not ready to give up on trying to make kids wear masks in schools or impose vaccine mandates on the population, as that would effectively end his fifteen minutes of fame.
But Joe Biden declaring the pandemic “over” put Fauci and other Democrats who want to keep the COVID emergency going in a bind.
