Joe Biden took office and bought into the environmental wacko policies of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
He declared war on American energy, shutting down construction on the Keystone XL pipeline and suspended oil and gas leases on federal land.
He’s been threatening to ram through major portions of the Green New Deal in Congress while twisting the arms of corporations through regulatory policies to implement the Green New Deal on their own.
With oil and gas under attack by his regime, American energy production has dropped off significantly.
Consumers are feeling the pain at the pumps with gas prices at their highest levels since Obama.
With rising gas prices becoming a major political problem for the regime, they’re desperate to spin their way out of the problem they created.
Jared Bernstein, a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, appeared on CNN to explain the regime’s strategy for getting gas prices under control.
In a surprising moment of honesty, CNN host Victor Blackwell grilled Bernstein on the regime’s plan.
He said, “A gallon of regular now up to $3.46 on average, a new seven-year high, up more — it’s up a dollar, almost, from a year ago. The President ordered release of 50 million barrels from the reserve. That was back in November, I believe it was, hit the market in December. OPEC is not ramping up increases to the desires of the U.S. What is the plan to control gas prices? This is something that’s hitting people every single day.”
Bernstein responded by saying, “Number one, we are engaging internationally, both with oil-producing and oil-consuming countries. In terms of oil-producing countries, we want them to live up to their supply commitments, and we’re engaged in diplomatic measures to make that happen.”
Biden has gone hat in hand to OPEC on several occasions begging them to increase production.
Each time they’ve ignored him and it doesn’t appear that’s going to be changing.
Bernstein then dangled the promise of releasing more oil from the strategic petroleum reserve.
The regime did this in December and it had virtually no effect on prices.
Bernstein concluded by threatening to take action against oil companies for high prices.
This is a tried-and-true tactic for Democrats to blame companies for the problems they caused.
Nowhere did he mention unleashing American energy.
Even with high gas prices, Biden won’t back down from the Green New Deal insanity that’s taken over the Democrat Party.
Gas prices are becoming such a political problem for Democrats that several vulnerable Democrat Senators are pushing to suspend the federal gas tax for a year.
With no end sight for high gas prices, this is going to be a major political problem for Democrats in the midterm elections.
