Now Joe Biden is feeling the heat after his regime was caught in this disturbing lie.
The good news is few and far between for President Joe Biden these days.
President Biden got a rare victory recently after it was announced that al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a drone strike in Afghanistan by the U.S. Military.
The news came nearly a year after the Biden regime’s implosion began with the botched withdrawal from the country.
Al-Zawahiri was killed in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, in a safehouse owned by the Taliban’s Interior Minister.
This fact has certainly raised serious questions about the Taliban’s role in harboring the terrorist mastermind.
The al-Qaeda leader being present in Afghanistan also exposed a disturbing lie Joe Biden told last year during his disastrous withdrawal.
“Look, let’s put this thing in perspective,” Biden said at the time. “What interest do we have in Afghanistan at this point, with al-Qaeda gone? We went to Afghanistan for the express purpose of getting rid of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan as well as — as well as — getting Osama bin Laden. And we did.”
Al-Zawahiri’s presence in the Afghan capital proves that al-Qaeda wasn’t gone from the country as Biden claimed.
In a press conference, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council, about President Biden’s claim.
“John , something you’ve just said is not consistent with what we were told last year,” Doocy said. “You’re saying that you’ve always known there was a small number of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. President Biden said, ‘what interest do we have in Afghanistan at this point with al-Qaeda gone?'”
“Yeah, I mean, in a major way al-Qaeda was not… playing a major role in operations or resourcing or planning in Afghanistan,” Kirby replied. “But, Peter, I know specifically because I was at a different podium a year ago. And we talked about the fact that al-Qaeda had a presence in Afghanistan, but its small, and not incredibly powerful or potent. And I think again, without getting into the numbers, we would still assess that to be the case.”
Kirby confirmed that Biden lied to the American people last year to sell his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Not only was al-Qaeda still in the country, it appears that the Taliban is still offering them protection.
After abandoning billions of dollars worth of advanced weaponry in the botched withdrawal, its possible some of it fell into the hands of al-Qaeda.
Also, as part of the deal to withdrawal from the Afghanistan, the Taliban promised to keep the country from turning into a safe haven for terrorists.
Doocy asked why Biden turned the country over to a group of terrorists.
“I take issue with the premise that we gave a whole country to terrorist groups,” Kirby said.
Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan will go down as one of the biggest foreign policy debacles in American history.
