White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki hasn’t had an easy go over her first few months on the job.
She often seems out of sync with Joe Biden’s messaging or, on some occasions, clueless as to where the President actually stands on an issue.
And the other day, Jen Psaki was speechless after a reporter asked this question about guns.
Crime in Democrat-run cities is surging with no relief in sight.
Of course, it doesn’t go unnoticed that these are the cities that screamed to “Defund the Police” and have some of the strictest gun control laws on the books.
But, according to the Democrats, neither of those things are the actual problem.
The Biden administration put together a plan that launched “enforcement strike forces” focused on combating gun trafficking in the crime-laden cities of Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.
However, it doesn’t appear that the plan is working.
The cities the administration focused on are still seeing massive spikes in violent crime.
During the daily White House press briefing, Jen Psaki’s archnemesis, Fox News’ Peter Doocy, asked her whether Biden’s “comprehensive strategy” to combat gun crime was effective in cities like Chicago.
Just last weekend, 73 people were shot in Chicago, 11 of them fatally.
“Does the President think this strategy is working?” Doocy asked.
Clearly caught off guard with no real answer, Psaki appeared speechless.
But in true Jen Psaki fashion, the Press Secretary proceeded to not answer the question and instead tried to spin the topic at hand.
“Well,” Psaki responded. “I think you and I both know that when there’s been rising crime rates across the country, including in Chicago, for 18 months or more, that unfortunately, it’s not going to turn on a dime.”
Psaki went on to explain that Chicago is one of the five cities where the federal government is working with local leaders to keep guns off the streets.
“The Department of Justice has a group in there to help address the selling of guns that are getting into the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. We’re working closely with the mayor and local elected officials. They have benefitted a huge amount from the federal assistance and funding the president fought to include in the American Rescue plan,” Psaki stated.
Just the idea that the federal government has to involve itself in this type of thing is infuriating.
The Democrats so desperately want to not have to admit they’re wrong that they just give non-answers and pretend that the Biden administration will swoop in and fix it all.
The only fix for these cities is a change of leadership.
