Joe Biden has completely bungled the border crisis.
He foolishly reversed Donald Trump’s effective border policies.
And FBI Director Christopher Wray gave a chilling warning about immigration.
What often gets lost in the illegal immigration debate is the role of cartels and U.S. street gangs.
Cartels are smuggling people into the United States, and some are essentially forced into indentured servitude in order to pay off their debts.
Tom McClintock (R-CA) of the House Judiciary Committee asked FBI Director Christopher Wray precisely about that.
McClintock asked, “Is it true that many of the foreign nationals who are being trafficked across our border often arrive here deeply indebted to the Mexican crime cartels?”
Wray gave a chilling response, “Certainly, we have seen quite a number of such instances, absolutely . . . [T]here’s no question that the cartel activity on the other side of the border is spilling over in all sorts of ways and you just put your finger directly on one that is extremely concerning to us all.”
Street gangs like MS-13 – whose credo is “Rape, control, kill” – operate in the United States and have roots to Central America.
Wray added that it’s a “modern form of slavery . . . [I]t’s almost Medieval.”
Even Democrats are beginning to acknowledge that illegal immigration has spiraled out of control.
Henry Cuellar, a Democrat Congressman who represents a border district in South Texas, said on the issue of illegal immigration, “We’ve got to enforce the law . . . Deport people that don’t have a right to be here.”
Kamala Harris was forced to fall on her sword for the Biden administration when she told people in Mexico and Central America point blank, “Do not come.”
The level of illegal border crossings has researched catastrophic levels.
Migrants are being dumped in parks in border towns, or flown into the interior of the country in the dead of night.
Biden’s border policies have been nonsensical.
He lifted all of Trump’s checks on immigration and invited everyone in, then he seemed caught off-guard that people actually came.
The United States cannot take in all of the world, and certainly not when migrants are flowing in at such destabilizing numbers.
There is no infrastructure in place to accept so many people, and Democrats refuse to get serious about border protection.
It’s a total calamity that did not have to happen.
