The corporate press is grasping at straws to defend Joe Biden.
Journalists are doing everything they can to prop up this crumbling administration.
And fact checkers tried to rescue Biden from himself and failed miserably.
The fallout from Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan is still spreading.
Biden arbitrarily moved back Donald Trump’s agreed upon date of May 1st, escalated tensions, and then executed a disorganized withdrawal that left at least hundreds of Americans stranded and 13 service-members dead.
Adding insult to injury, Biden disrespected the families of the fallen soldiers at a transfer ceremony.
As the bodies were being transported, Biden checked his watch multiple times.
USA Today claimed that it was “false” that Biden checked his watch, but the paper had to revise their assessment after multiple Gold Star families confirmed the incident.
One Gold Star said that it was “the most disrespectful thing” he had “ever seen.”
Shana Chappell, a Gold Star mother, wrote on Facebook:
“I watched you disrespect us all 5 different times by checking your watch!!! What the f*ck was so important that you had to keep looking at your watch????”
Even the Washington Post wrote that Jiennah McCollum—wife of departed Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum—”left disappointed…The president, she said, kept checking his watch and bringing up Beau.”
After the wave of evidence, the fact checkers at USA Today changed their rating of “false” to “missing context.”
From USA Today:
“Based on our research, we rate MISSING CONTEXT the claim that Trump saluted the caskets of fallen U.S. service members, while Biden checked his watch. The way Biden honored the 11 caskets presented at Dover Air Force Base, with a hand over his heart, was similar to how Trump paid respects to fallen service members during his presidency. However, Biden did check his watch at least three times, according to photos and video reviewed by USA TODAY. Several family members of fallen service members who attended the ceremony have criticized Biden for checking his watch.”
USA Today should’ve done its job and actually checked the facts before publishing their assessment.
These are the supposed gatekeepers of journalism.
All of the “trusted” fact-checking organizations have a clear liberal bias, which is how embarrassing mistakes like this happen.
