Monday night, he turned that same laser focus on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) during "The Real Story" – and it wasn’t pretty.¹
Omar had just finished telling Democracy Now! that America’s become "one of the worst countries" in the world.¹
She was griping about military in the streets, claiming she’d lived under dictators but never seen anything like what’s happening here.¹
Dr. Phil had heard enough of Omar’s pity party.
Sure, she’s got the right to trash America all she wants. That’s her business.
But Dr. Phil’s got rights too – like the right to call her comments "culturally, psychologically… disgusting" and tell voters they "should kick her a– to the curb."¹
Omar’s shocking ingratitude exposed
Here’s what really gets under people’s skin about Omar’s America-bashing: her own life story.
Think about it for a second. Omar’s family packed up and left Somalia when she was just a kid.
They didn’t exactly have a ton of options – it was either get out or deal with whatever was coming next in a country falling apart.
So where’d they end up? The supposedly awful United States of America.
And what happened to little Ilhan once she got here?
Well, let’s see. Got an education. Became a citizen. Eventually won a seat in Congress.
Not too shabby for someone from "one of the worst countries" in the world, right?
Dr. Phil wasn’t about to let the irony slide by unnoticed.
He reminded everyone that Somalia isn’t exactly a vacation destination – it’s the second most corrupt country on earth.¹
The numbers from her homeland are pretty rough. Nearly every woman there has suffered female genital mutilation. Kids get forced into armies. People die 30 years earlier than they should.¹
Can’t read? Join the club – most adults there can’t either. Wrong religion? Better keep quiet. Gay? That’s a death sentence.¹
But hey, America’s the problem here.
Military parade triggers Omar’s latest meltdown
So what set Omar off this time? Trump threw a military parade for the Army’s 250th birthday on Flag Day.
You know, the kind of thing most Americans would consider pretty normal – honoring the folks who keep us safe.
Not Omar though. She saw dictator vibes everywhere.
Called Trump a "failed dictator" for celebrating our military.¹ Said he was "destroying our country" with a parade.¹
Then she really went off the deep end, telling Americans to hit the streets in protest because this parade somehow violated everything the Founding Fathers wanted.¹
"This is not the country we were born in," she announced, like she was leading some kind of resistance movement.¹
Really? A military parade breaks America?
Guess nobody told her about France’s Bastille Day parade. Or Britain’s military ceremonies. Or pretty much every other democracy that celebrates their armed forces without turning into North Korea.
But in Omar’s world, any show of American strength equals tyranny.
Dr. Phil exposes Omar’s radical anti-American history
This wasn’t Omar’s first rodeo when it came to dumping on America.
Dr. Phil didn’t let her off the hook for her greatest hits collection of anti-American comments.
Back in 2019, she announced America wouldn’t stay "the country of White people" much longer.¹
Next year, she wanted to tear down "the whole system of oppression."¹ You know, that same oppressive system that took her from refugee camp to Capitol Hill.
But her worst moment? June 2021, when she put America in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.
Actually wrote that America, along with "Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan and the Taliban" were all committing "unthinkable atrocities."¹
Dr. Phil called that "crazy talk," which honestly seems generous.¹
Most people would use stronger language for someone who thinks America’s as bad as terrorists who blow up school buses and throw gay people off buildings.
That’s the kind of comment that makes you wonder if Omar’s lost touch with reality.
The ungrateful congresswoman’s toxic pattern
Look, here’s the thing that drives people nuts about Omar and politicians like her.
She’s got this amazing success story – refugee to congresswoman in one generation. That’s the American Dream right there.
But instead of saying "wow, what a country," she spends every day telling us how terrible we are.
Dr. Phil nailed it when he talked about her "unmitigated gall."¹ That’s exactly what it is.
She got housing assistance, education, citizenship, a platform, power – everything America had to offer.
And her response? Constant complaints about how oppressive and awful it all is.
It’s like someone inviting you into their house, feeding you, giving you a place to sleep, helping you get back on your feet – then you spend the next decade telling everyone what a terrible host they were.
Most people would call that pretty ungrateful behavior.
Omar’s constituents deserve better representation
The folks in Minnesota’s 5th District probably didn’t vote for someone to spend all day trashing their country.
They’ve got real problems – jobs, schools, infrastructure, crime. Normal stuff that congresspeople usually work on.
Instead, they’re stuck with someone who thinks America’s basically a terrorist state and uses her platform to tell the world about it.
That’s not exactly helpful when you’re trying to attract businesses or tourism to your district.
When your own representative is out there calling America "one of the worst countries" in the world, it doesn’t exactly scream "come visit Minnesota."¹
Dr. Phil delivered some hard truths Omar needed to hear – even if she’ll probably ignore them.
But maybe her voters won’t ignore them come election time.
After all, if America’s really as bad as Omar says it is, there are plenty of other countries that would love to have her.
