Former President Donald Trump continues to keep Americans guessing as to what he’ll do in 2024.
Earlier this month Trump came the closest he has since leaving the White House to announcing his bid for reelection in 2024.
Donald Trump truly looks like he’s gearing up for 2024, but that’s not stopping some other GOP hopefuls from testing the waters.
To some, a politician making a speech in Iowa in 2021 may seem like nothing and likely doesn’t even cause them to take a second look at the headline.
To those who work in politics, it’s a sure sign that person is considering a run for President.
A prime example of this is former Vice President Mike Pence who has now been to Iowa twice, as well as South Carolina, Nevada, and New Hampshire – these are the first four states that vote in the race for the White House.
Coincidence? Highly unlikely.
Longtime Republican consultant John Brabender believes that despite a possible run by Trump, many of the GOP hopefuls are trying to hedge their bets.
“Everybody understands that the President is very seriously looking at 2024. I think the majority of candidates would be deferential to Trump if he decides to run in 2024, but what they don’t want to do is find themselves in a situation that if Trump decides he’s not running, then they’ve wasted a lot of time,” Brabender told Fox News.
Former Vice President Mike Pence says he’s completely focused on 2022, and there’s no doubt he is, but his recent travels have many speculating he’s looking to toss his hat in the ring come 2024.
“I’m completely focused on 2022. And come 2023, we’ll do as our family has always done. We’ll reflect and pray and consider where we might next serve. We’ll go where we’re called,” Pence told Fox News.
According to a report by Fox News, just this year there have been fifteen trips to Iowa by nine possible GOP presidential contenders.
While most Americans are looking at celebrating Christmas and the coming New Year with family, presidential hopefuls are busy laying the groundwork for 2024.
