For years, countless Americans watched in horror as their communities were ravaged by natural disasters under the Biden-Harris reign of neglect.

But those days are over.

And Donald Trump just rushed critical disaster aid to Virginia that had Governor Youngkin practically gushing with appreciation.

Virginians finally get the help they deserve after brutal winter storms

Scott Turner, Trump’s new HUD Secretary, came out swinging this week with a massive disaster relief package for Virginia families hammered by those nasty winter storms and flooding back in February.

The brutal weather tore through communities from February 10-18, leaving a trail of damaged homes and businesses in its wake. These weren’t just some minor weather events – they were destructive enough to warrant the big guns.

President Trump didn’t hesitate. He slapped a Major Disaster Declaration on Virginia on April 4, unlocking a boatload of federal resources that Virginians desperately needed.

“HUD is here to support Virginians as they rebuild their homes, communities, and businesses following the severe winter storms and flooding,” Secretary Turner declared. “Disaster response is a foundational part of our mission-minded approach to serving American communities as they work to rebuild.”

Remember those endless loops of Biden-Harris officials droning on with empty promises while Americans sat in flooded homes waiting for help that never came? Yeah, those days are dead and buried.

Governor Youngkin couldn’t thank Trump fast enough

You could practically hear the relief in Governor Glenn Youngkin’s voice when he got wind of Trump’s decision.

“I am grateful to President Trump and the entire Administration for approving federal disaster assistance for the Commonwealth of Virginia,” Youngkin said, clearly thrilled. “These resources aid recovery efforts in the areas of Southwest Virginia affected by Hurricane Helene last fall along with the severe flooding brought on by February’s winter storms.”

The Governor made a point to single out Secretary Turner for creating a “strong partnership supporting Virginians adversely impacted by these storms.”

And he wasn’t alone in his praise. Rep. Morgan Griffith from Virginia’s 9th District chimed in too, pointing out that many of his constituents were still picking up the pieces from Hurricane Helene when February’s storms unleashed even more flooding.

“Secretary Turner’s announcement to extend natural disaster aid and financial flexibility resources to Southwest Virginia will help our communities access vital recovery services,” Griffith said, clearly relieved his constituents would finally get some breathing room.

The relief package is packed with actual help, not empty promises

So what’s actually in this disaster package? Turns out, quite a lot:

  • Homeowners with FHA-insured mortgages get a 90-day break from foreclosures
  • Folks with Home Equity Conversion Mortgages automatically score a 90-day extension
  • If your home was destroyed or badly damaged, HUD’s Section 203(h) program offers insurance with 100% financing including closing costs
  • Need to repair or rebuild? The Section 203(k) loan program lets you finance both the purchase and repair through a single mortgage
  • FEMA and Virginia will get lists of available housing units from public housing agencies and multi-family owners
  • Housing counseling agencies are ready to help navigate the maze of assistance programs
  • Public Housing Agencies can cut through bureaucratic red tape with special waivers and flexibilities for disaster recovery

For the first time in years, a disaster relief package actually looks like . . . real relief.

Trump keeps his word while Biden’s empty promises fade away

While Americans watched Biden-Harris officials jet off to climate conferences and send billions overseas, Trump is laser-focused on helping actual American citizens right here at home.

The Virginia relief package isn’t just a one-off either. In his first months back in office, Trump has quietly approved disaster declarations across multiple states, each time unlocking critical resources for struggling communities.

It’s the America First approach in action – not just a campaign slogan, but a governing philosophy that puts everyday Americans at the front of the line instead of the back.

Virginia families can finally start rebuilding their lives knowing the federal government has their backs again. And other disaster-prone communities across America can breathe a little easier knowing that when storms hit, help won’t be far behind.
