California cities are throwing American tradition under the bus.
They’re prioritizing criminals over families who want to celebrate the birth of our nation.
And California Democrat officials got caught red-handed choosing illegal aliens over American citizens this July 4th weekend.
Democrats abandon Independence Day celebrations
Multiple California cities have canceled their Fourth of July celebrations in response to federal immigration enforcement operations targeting illegal aliens in the region.
Los Angeles scrapped the Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Summer Block Party, with organizers citing "recent events affecting a portion of Downtown Los Angeles."¹
That’s liberal code for "we’re more concerned about protecting people who broke our immigration laws than celebrating the country that gave them opportunity."
The city of Cudahy, where 97% of the population identifies as Hispanic, canceled its July 3rd celebration entirely.
Bell Gardens followed suit by canceling a concert and two outdoor movie showings scheduled for this weekend.
Officials there cited "an abundance of caution regarding concerns for resident safety over federal immigration enforcement activities."²
East Los Angeles shuts down all patriotic events
The situation got even more outrageous in East Los Angeles.
All July 4th celebrations in L.A. City Council District 14 have been canceled or postponed according to a spokesperson for Councilwoman Ysabel Jurado.³
El Sereno canceled its annual Independence Day parade.
Huntington Park scrapped its Independence Day celebration without even bothering to give residents a reason.
These are the same Democrat politicians who lecture Americans about patriotism and unity while they abandon the most patriotic holiday on the calendar.
Law-abiding families pay the price
East Los Angeles resident Jordan Escobar told KTLA that he understands why officials are canceling events because he has "family members who are being affected by this" and called the enforcement actions "injustices."⁴
But here’s what these Democrat officials don’t want you to understand: the only people being "affected" by immigration enforcement are those who chose to break federal law by entering or remaining in the country illegally.
Law-abiding American families and legal immigrants who want to celebrate Independence Day are being punished because their elected officials care more about protecting criminals than serving their constituents.
Kids who were looking forward to parades, fireworks, and community celebrations are being denied those experiences because Democrat politicians want to make a political statement.
Democrats show their true priorities
This isn’t about "resident safety" as these officials claim.
If they were concerned about safety, they’d be supporting immigration enforcement that removes dangerous criminals from their communities.
Instead, they’re creating a climate of fear and division by treating routine law enforcement as some kind of emergency.
President Trump promised to restore law and order to our immigration system, and that’s exactly what’s happening.
But Democrat officials in California would rather cancel American traditions than allow federal agents to do their jobs.
They’re essentially holding July 4th celebrations hostage to protect people who have no legal right to be in the United States.
The message this sends is crystal clear
When push comes to shove, these California Democrats will choose illegal aliens over American citizens every single time.
They’ll cancel Independence Day celebrations to avoid cooperating with immigration enforcement.
They’ll deny families the chance to celebrate our nation’s founding because they’re more concerned about political optics than public safety.
This is the same mentality that turned California into a sanctuary state where criminals are protected and law-abiding citizens are forgotten.
The good news is that President Trump isn’t backing down from his promise to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws.
These California officials can cancel all the Fourth of July celebrations they want, but they can’t stop federal agents from doing their job.
And they can’t hide the fact that when forced to choose between America and illegal aliens, they chose wrong.
