Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the darling of the radical socialists.
She’s trying to take the Democrats even farther to the left.
And she was furious when Democrats gave her this surprising news.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has successfully pulled the Democrats so far to the Left, that so-called moderates like Joe Biden are catering to her whims.
As part of the Democrats’ massive swing to the far-left, they’ve gone completely insane over abortion.
Democrats used to deny their radical position on abortion using lines like “safe, legal, and rare.”
Now, they’re pushing on-demand abortions until birth and some even after.
At the federal level, the Hyde Amendment prevents federal funds from going to pay for taxpayer funded abortions.
While Democrats have found workarounds to it, Hyde prevents the flood gates of taxpayer-funded abortion from opening.
Hyde has been reauthorized by Congress since the 1980s in government spending bills.
With the Democrats far-left turn, they’ve made it a mission to get rid of the Hyde amendment and pour millions of dollars into taxpayer-funded abortions.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been a leader in trying to get Hyde repealed.
She claims it’s a “healthcare” and “income inequality issue” for poor birthing persons of color.
Her support for repealing Hyde pushed Joe Biden to reverse his long standing position of supporting it during the 2020 election.
With Democrats in total control of Washington, D.C. after the 2020 elections, it looked Hyde could finally be repealed.
Now, Politico is reporting that Democrats are quietly conceding defeat on their attempts to repeal it.
Negotiations over government spending have seen Democrats give up on repeal.
With a 50-50 tie in the Senate, Democrats couldn’t afford a signal defection on a repeal vote.
Frequent target of Ocasio-Cortez criticism Joe Manchin refused to budge on his support of Hyde despite the far-left shrieking.
Republican Senators stood firm and already started to declare the Hyde repeal dead.
Alabama Republican Senator Richard Shelby said, “There wouldn’t be any bill at all if we didn’t have those in there. The legacy riders (Hyde Amendment) have to be in there.”
This becomes a massive loss for Ocasio-Cortez on one of her signature issues.
Yet again, Joe Manchin handed her a defeat after he opposed Biden’s “Build Back Better,” which included much of her radical Green New Deal agenda.
Democrats will have to tell their abortion fanatic base that they failed to deliver on a key promise with Democrat control of government.
But this could be only the beginning of the bad news for Ocasio-Cortez on abortion.
The Supreme Court is set to weigh in on the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which could see Roe repealed outright or scaled back.
With Democrats desperate to move to the center for an election year, this could be just the beginning of Ocasio-Cortez’s frustration.
