A likely rematch between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden is looming in the 2024 Presidential Election.
After the unexpected success of Democrats in last year’s Midterm Elections, the Left is convinced that Trump is headed towards defeat next year.
The conventional wisdom amongst Democrats, the media, and even some Republicans, is that Trump has turned off too many voters to be able to win again.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) pumped the brakes on Democrats’ growing cockiness over Biden’s chances against the former President during an interview with Politico.
“I don’t think we should ever be rooting for Trump in any situation,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “2020 was not a blowout.”
Heading into the 2020 Election, Democrats thought they would achieve a historic route that would deliver them huge majorities in Congress and the White House.
Democrats ended up losing seats in the House and Republicans barely lost control of the Senate after the Georgia runoffs.
“We have to really understand that as long as the Electoral College is in place, these elections are very often decided, sometimes by tens of thousands of votes, in a very small handful of states,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
Trump narrowly lost by roughly 45,000 votes spread across three battleground states – Arizona, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
“There are a lot of times that I think people overestimate Trump in certain areas,” Ocasio-Cortez explained. “But they still continue to underestimate Trump, I think, in his ability to carry a message and carry a base.”
The political establishment has continually dismissed Trump’s chances of winning since he first announced his candidacy in 2015.
Democrats have fooled themselves into thinking that they’ll mop the floor with Trump in an election only to be let down.
In a rare moment of clarity, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez realizes that 2024 won’t be a cakewalk for Democrats with Biden at the top of the ticket.
The polling backs up Ocasio-Cortez’ warning about Trump being a threat to return to the White House after the next election.
A recent poll conducted by ABC and The Washington Post found that the former President is currently leading President Biden by 6 points, and a poll conducted by Harvard University and Harris Polling indicated Trump is ahead by 7.
Biden’s approval rating is still deeply underwater, and more trouble could be on the way for the embattled President.
The Federal Reserve and major Wall Street banks are sounding the alarm about a likely recession later this year.
A recession after the economic woes inflicted on the country by Biden would leave him on the ropes for his re-election campaign.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can clearly see that Democrats have a knock-down, drag-out fight on their hands if they hope to keep control of the White House after the next election.
