Mitch McConnell sold conservatives up the river again.
He handed Joe Biden one of the biggest victories of his Presidency.
And a leading Republican dropped the hammer on Mitch McConnell over this terrible betrayal.
Democrats and RINOs led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) joined together to pass one of the worst spending bills in American history.
The 4,155-page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill handed President Joe Biden a major victory with lavish funding for his radical agenda.
It funded virtually every left-wing boondoggle imaginable – from spending millions to name a hiking trail after former First Lady Michelle Obama to giving Middle Eastern nations millions to secure their borders while ignoring the Biden border crisis.
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) is one of the top conservatives in the Senate, and helped lead the charge to try and kill the omnibus bill.
During an appearance on Fox Business, Senator Lee unloaded on Senate Republican leadership for signing off on the $1.7 trillion monstrosity.
“I think Senator Rand Paul put his finger on it,” Fox Business’ Larry Kudlow told Lee. “He was on our show a couple of nights ago. He said the GOP has lost any power of the purse, and he said the GOP has emasculated itself. This is not a good episode for the Republican Party, is it?”
“No, not at all,” Lee replied.
By passing an omnibus bill that funded the federal government through September, Senator McConnell and his RINO lackeys undercut the incoming House Republican majority.
Conservatives were pushing for a short-term spending bill that would fund the federal government through early next year when the House Republicans would have the majority and the leverage to stop such a monstrosity from passing.
“One of the reasons that this sort of thing can happen and not get much attention in the process – and Republicans can still go through the motions and vote for it, devastatingly – is because it’s folded into a 4,155-page bill,” Lee explained. “One that was negotiated in secret by four or five Members of Congress.”
The omnibus bill was written behind closed doors and released to the public in the dead of night, right before Christmas.
Democrats’ goal was ram it through Congress as fast as possible, before anyone could discover all of the terrible things in it.
“There’s not a human alive who can digest 4,155 pages of legislative appropriations text in that short a period of time,” Lee said. “That’s one of the reasons why this should never happen.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hoped to force a vote on the bill the day it was released.
When questioned about how anyone could read the bill in time, Senator Schumer dismissed it saying everyone already knew most of what was in it.
“Republicans in particular who do this should be asked to never, ever, do it again,” Lee concluded. “We will self-destruct as a Party if this ever happens again.”
After dropping the ball in the Midterm elections, Mitch McConnell ended the year with another stab in the back to conservatives.
