It was an embarrassing moment for a cable TV host.
But the clip went viral on social media.
And a college freshman humiliated a top CNN star with one brutal question.
University of Chicago freshman Christopher Phillips challenged CNN host Brian Stelter at an event on misinformation on Stelter and the other panelists’ contention that Fox News is the main source of disinformation in America.
Phillips noted that CNN also spreads its fair share of disinformation.
“You’ve all spoken extensively about Fox News being a purveyor of disinformation. But CNN is right up there with them,” Phillips prefaced.
Phillips then cited specific examples of CNN lying to the public.
“They pushed the Russian collusion hoax, they pushed the Jussie Smollett hoax. They smeared Justice Kavanaugh as a rapist and they also smeared Nick Sandmann as a white supremacist,” Phillips began. “And yes, they dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop affair as pure Russian disinformation with mainstream corporate journalists becoming little more than apologists and cheerleaders for the regime.”
“Is it time to finally declare that the canon of journalistic ethics is dead or no longer operative?” Phillips asked before pointing out that every error CNN makes all go against Republicans. “All the mistakes of the mainstream media and CNN in particular, seem to magically all go in one direction.”
A visibly flustered Stelter tried to duck the question.
“I think you’re describing a different channel than the one that I watch,” Stelter responded.
Stelter then tried to dismiss proven facts as a “right-wing narrative.”
“But I understand that that is a popular right-wing narrative about CNN,” Stelter added.

Polls continue to show a declining trust in the so-called “mainstream” media.
Much of that distrust comes from right-leaning Americans who realize that corporate-controlled media figures like Brian Stelter and others have no problem lying or spreading misinformation as long as it advances the Democrat Party’s political agenda and narrative.
